Hi Folks...

I bought a used gen 4 zx10r on ebay. Low miles but I found gobs of carbon when I took the head off. This is the first time I've tried cleaning gen 4 valves. For cleaning I'm doing the following:
- Using an ultrasonic cleaner with 50/50 simple green hd pro and water
- Have also dunked them over night in a can of diesel fuel a few times.
- Plastic scraper to remove large/high blobs of carbon
- Using a brass wheel on a Dremel as a final step

Valves still have some stubborn but thin surface carbon yet to be removed. I've heard that the titanium vales have a coating and need to be cleaned carefully so I have a few questions:
- is the entire valve (head and stem) coated?
- is the brass wheel ok on the coating?
- how aggressive can I get with the brass wheel?

Thanks,

Mike

probabley cleaned up a couple of hundred ti valves. entire valve coated. i use a 9 inch soft wire wheel on a bench grinder and light pressure, will clean all carbon off even complete on ex valves. be aware that coating can be "splotched" in appereance, not a even color, so dont look for a perfect coating color. just get the carbon off, valve face area where u use caution.
