Gen 4 build and steals

I like seeing/reading build threads so even though this is just a street build I thought somebody might like to check it out. So bought this bike back in October. Felt like I got a good deal for 2015 ZX10r non-abs with a lil over 7k miles for $7500. It was raining that day and ever since then the weather has either been rain or cold as hell. So thought since Black Friday sales and closeout deals were coming up I'd just start modding.

The day I got her home...

The previous owner decided he wanted to go for one last ride the night before I picked the bike up. That was cool....couldn't blame him. Except for the fact it was a downpour when he went riding and the bike was disgusting afterwards. Not to mention he was running a LED kit with no covers so there was water inside the housing along with all kinds of other shit. So first mod was to fix that. Found a HL housing on ebay that had a small crack where both sides connected. Epoxy it up and good as new! Other than that...not a scratch on it. HL=$100.

Figured I'd start at the top and work my way down. Cleaned every inch of this bike with a combo of Totally Awesome, alcohol and WD-40. IMO....bike is only 2 years old...there is no reason it shouldn't still look brand new. It had some sort of rigged fender elim on it that looked like a 2 year old did it. So that got trashed and I installed a simple TST fender elim which I scored for $20. While I had that apart I found a brand new DMP integrated tail light on ebay that I won for $60. Soldered everything up and good to go!

Got a factory seat cowl but beforehand I had read on here about over tightening the bolts so I made sure to finger tighten. But thought I should take a wrench and gently snug them up. Everything was fine until a week later. I went to remove it so I could plug in my new WPS featherwight lithium battery I got from Mike at riderdiscount ($73) and found this! Let this be a lesson to anybody who is looking to get these...if it feels tight by hand....IT IS! Don't second guess yourself. Needless to say there was no fixing this so I ordered a new one. No good deal this time!

Tank section took alot more time. Bike had the R&G tank protectors on and I'm not a fan of Carbon Fiber randomness so those had to go. 5hrs later using a 3m eraser wheel and alot of patience the tank was back to the way it was. Got to put on my light tech knockoff keyless gas cap I scored for ($19) and my Tech spec C3 kit. (pad=$12/grips kit=$61). Under the tank I put in a new K&N filter ($25) and my flashed by SIK ecu (black friday special $150). Can't forget about the ZX10r decals Blink hooked me up with.

Well i gotta say you have some good taste! Great looking 10 but that 646 is beautiful! Tried the white for about a week and could not hang, takes so much effort to keep up on. Keep up the good work!

Thanks! It was definitely a job (especially the wheels) but I didn't mind.

Didn't wanna go with cheap levers or overly expensive ones. Came across these doing a search online and decided to try em out. So far I'm really impressed. Green anodizing matches perfectly (as you can see in the pic), no movement up or down in the clutch lever like some. I did have to take the plunger fitting (whatever it's called) and machine it out a tiny bit as it was just a hair to small. The cool thing about these levers is the LCTT (lever cushion traction technology) inserts. It comes with 5 different color inserts. I have the black in for now. For $100 I think I'm gonna be really happy with these and the Spider grips I snagged for $10.

GREEN is god :notworthy:

I don't understand "modernize" by adding color. Maybe more like a "fresh it up". Modernize would be like adding QS or Launch Control.

Anyway, I'd leave it green. its the best color that noone else but Kawasaki is willing to bet on.

Its definitely a awesome color in person. Lots of pics make it look grayish black unless the lighting is good.

Here they are with the green inserts. I think you'll be happy with em.

So got home Tuesday night and had no water (main line frozen). So called into work and got to work on the bike some more yesterday while my torpedo heater did it's job.

Moved the battery tender hookup to where I wouldn't have to take the seat cowl off to get to it anymore. Snapped a pic of the WPS battery while I was at it. The thing is super small and weighs almost nothing. Got the new seat cowl in and didn't bother messing with the bolts and speed nuts this time. Smothered everything in plastic epoxy and used plastic push rivets to keep the bracket lined up. Good as new!

Back to new stuff!!! Got the R&G race covers (decal removed) that I snagged for $200 and the OES sliders for $48 installed . Put on my new front Vortex sprocket while I was at it and frame plugs I found at Ace Hardware for $1.56 each.

Came across the hot bodies rear hugger on ebay already paint matched from a gen 5. I wouldn't have paid full price for this thing but considering I got it for $66 shipped I think I got a good deal. Used a little bit of 3M tape to help keep the 2 together and did a tiny bit of trimming with a dremel and they fit together perfectly now.

I have one of those huggers, I suggest you get silicone, to put them together....
dont expect them to last long, they will deteriorate fast and start braking.

where did you get the chassis plugs.?
