Hello,

New to zx10r motors. I’m coming from racing/working on Harley-Davidsons. I’m in the process of building a zx10r Hillclimber , currently have a 04/05 (gen1) engine. I’ve been reading in this forum and getting conflicting information.

is it more beneficial putting a gen 3/4 head on the G1 or just sending the the G1 out to get ported?

looking to just wake it up for this season, then do more work in the future. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

The gen 1/2 is ported from the factory, so it saves alot of work.....but the valve spring retainers should be upgraded to rhe 08-14 version.
The gen 4 lets you have the big cams in it and make it top end scream.....saves getting hard to find cams for the gen 1-3s or buying kit cams.
The gen 1 has a nice light crank.
And if you run a total loss system the generator drops a nice chunk of weight.
