If anyone has ever raced or has done several trackdays at Barber, I'd be curious what gearing (if any) you used at this track?

I'm debating on which to go with: down 1 or up 2 - not sure the impact at this track, but with stock gearing, I'm barely taping 4th gear on the back and front straights - most of the time just keep in 3rd.

I'm only looking for a slightly better drive on corner exit were second gear is just short of powerband.

I don't always like using 1st as it's high-side city and sometimes I catch mis-shifts.

If no responses, I'll post my results after the next race. :eek:ccasion1

15/43 on my old 1000RR there, but I am betting that is not helping ya :grin2:

I'm jealous of you though as I miss that track more than anything else in the South. Stopped counting at 10,000 laps

Haha, yeah that doesn't help much :wink2: But I think I'm just going to play with a -1 up front and see where it goes. The track is short enough I never worry about top end.

It's probably my favorite track as well, though I don't enjoy running in June/July - 98° + heat index is over 105° this time of year. Feels like you can push the air out of your way it's so thick! lol

Anyways, will report on findings after the race in two weeks.

Going to give a Z125 a go on the track too. See how well stock does out there with all the G-loading on the stock forks and springs. :grin2:

Yup the longest straight is 1,595' so I basically only used 3 gears anyway except the back kink where I shortshifted into 5th to drop the rpms and reduce the gyroscopic precession of the engine while keeping the throttle pinned.
