hey sikr, glad to see you getting straight. been following your work and progress. always trying to learn, ya know,thanks for your help. man, ive been very busy with work, running into most weekends, doing special events for a corp., and daughters wedding last weekend. everything has been going well assembling eng., felt really good about things until a few days ago. i got a problem i created. ive put lots of motors together and have never had a clearance problem before. i squeezed this little motor pretty tight to make some power, .045 hg, .015 decked, .027 quench, wanted to see how well i could run with stk. pistons, used every little trick i know, may have tricked myself. degreed cams at 107.5 int., 104.5 ex. ptv on int, .059., ptv on ex. .055. very tight on ex. these regrind webs have duration added where the base circle is reduced, opening valve early and quickly, closing late and quickly. duration not added from welding as there is none, butat point of initial opening and closing. good ramp speed though, ive studied these cams with dial indicator and degree wheel, duration at base instead of nose has fooled me. had carp. springs installed, did not like seat pressure, took out, running stk. springs shimmed .025 under base. i can either run ex, cam on out, or tear back down. never seen a cam quite like this, and ive installed over .500 lifts on 2v, 430 on 4v. hope this helps someone in the future. like i said, going fast is a process, im not really discouraged, like you, gonna work this out. any suggestions? thanks,sikr, really appreciate your intrest.
I think you are fine with those clearances. On the NA motor I am running .024 squish, .060 int / .050ish ex PTV, 110/110 lobe centers, with Wiseco drop in pistons, stock rods. It leaks down fine after a hard day on a Factory Pro dyno, holding at 13500 for 5-6 seconds. I know folks who run ex PTV around .045, but they are right on the edge. -Dean
