Im just putting a ZX10r (05) back together after it was crashed...It was all cosmetic damage. I got a used gauge cluster from another cat on this fourm and everything lights up nice, time, turn signals, temp, works fine but the spedo reads 0, KM dont move when riding?? could this be the speed sensor? I took it off and it seems clean and fine. Is there a way to test it? thanks boys

Could well be, I would check the connections to it, if I remember correctly they are at the side of the airbox.

no, the headlights do not need to be connected. check the wiring to the guage cluster to make sure it's working properly...download the service manual for the procedure.

Before you go that far check the lead to the speed sensor. It gets routed throught the left side engine mount and sometimes gets pinched. I did it when I put my came in and was like WTF so a inspected the line and sure enough. Check that before you go spending all sorts of money.

Yah I did that and tested the wire going through..I just put my buddys 636 gauge on the bike and it is reading the speedo..Its way way way out (doing about 60km and it reads 7km nice and steady).. Its so confuzing because the gauge only has 4600km on it and it lights up nice and everything works but the speedo and odometer... I guess ill send it in to BLUEGAUGES.com and hope for the best..

When I was serching ffor my 06 adn looling at othrs I noticed that the speedo cluster has some issues that Kawi indicates are common. I looked at one that read fine for a while when starting to ride then would flash or read 180mph etc. I think it would be wise to contact kawi to see the frequency this issues has been reported to see if it is a manufactureer issue as well. Hope you get it resolved...

Speed sensor malfunction (the wiring or the sensor itself) or sensor disconnected will shoot error 24 at the FI.
If never showed an FI, then the problem is the cluster.

I am told from Bluegauges.com its the gauge becasue we ruled out everything elts(we hope).. I just sent the gauge to him in hopes he can fix it.. I down 40bucks for shipping there and back but If it can be fixed then its worth it

I guess when he bench tested it, it seemed to be all correct.. Then he went and opened up the gauge and tested the input and out put on the curcuit board and the out put was not correct... As for having a speedohealer...I do not have one.. Nore do I know what they are.. I have just bean reading up on them and dont know if I need one as of now maybe when the bike gets a new sprocket.. As for now shes bone stock:heyyou:

well, good to hear you got it fix. I myself hate working on electrical things. Theres a lot of guys here with some good knowlage. just have to tell everyone what you did and all the things on your bike that you put on or work on. the more info people put out. then things can be written off as far as what cause the problem.

Well depending on their bench test but it sounds like they where blowing smoke out of their Arse to you. First of all there is only 1 Input needed that can be done/tested by a simple little device called a speedohealer and some power hook ups. the only output on your cluster is a Power line to run the speed sensor the Input is the Digital pulses needed to show speed is the Input to your cluster so if there was no output you would have never seen a speed indication on your bike when your buddies 600 gauge worked("buddys 636 gauge on the bike and it is reading the speedo"), because the pulses are different from one bike to another and could have caused a Speed indication but at the same time very WRONG.. it also shows that the "output" speed sensor voltage was working from the cluster. They can still be right like the speed circuit on the Circuit board doesn't calculate properly anymore as that can be the only reason from the read on this thread.:dontknow:

As, far as you needing a Speedohealer anyone can benefit from one as the stock clusters are off by as much as 6% stock and they give last top speed Recall. :heyyou:
