Can anyone explain or direct me to a thread that describes how to remove the applicable parts in order to replace the front fairing stay on my 2006 ZX10R?

Thanks.

Not really a thread on this, its very, very easy to do.

Remove the grey covers that are right under the clip-ons. Each cover is held on by two bolts on the middle fairings, close to the frame. Once you get those covers off, you can reach the mirror bolts and remove the mirrors.

Remove the four bolts near the front of the nose fairing. Pop out the four plastic pop-rivets on the underside of the nose fairing. To properly remove the pop-rivets without destroying them, gently push in the middle part of the rivit with a small screw driver, and it will "click" allowing you to remove it without breaking it.

On the inside of the fairing nose, below the bolts that held in the mirrors, are two large silver screws that hold the fairing nose to the fairing stay bracket. Once you remove those two bolts, there will be nothing holding the fairing nose to the bike.

Unplug the two headlights and the two daytime running lamps, and now the fairing nose should be completely disconnected from the bike. Gently maneuver the fairing off of the fairing stay bracket, its a little tricky so take your time.

To completely separate the nose fairing from the headlight housing, you need to remove six black screws located around the perimeter of the headlight housing. Then the headlight housing easily slips off of the nose fairing.

That's it. Should take you between 20 to 30 minutes and at least two beers.

An unnecessary tip that will make life much easier, you can remove the large bolt on each side of the middle fairing, located directly below the gas tank, this will give the side fairings some flex and make it much easier to reinstall the nose fairing.
