is there an official kawa part number for this?

im over in thailand so on something like brakes id prefer to get direct from kawa rather than an aftermarket part, but if i goto the dealership and i dont bring them the exact part number, its like 50% chance they will order the wrong thing

my front brake has been spongy for awhile
put in new pads (vesrah)
multiple bleeds including hand and vacuum, all 3 points in proper rotation
ziptie the lever overnight multiple times
it gets better, but it still goes back to spongy after a few days

so i think rebuilding the master couldnt hurt right?
maybe its got a bad seal or something
its 3+ years old and 40,000km riding in super hot weather

strangely, everytime i bleed the brakes, i never see air bubbles come out, at least not visibly sized ones, even when pumping / bleeding each location 15-20 times (about 1 full reservoir per location).... but after the bleed the brakes do feel better, even though i saw no air.... is that normal?

I have looked for MC rebuild kits for a gen 5 already and had no luck finding them. Hopefully someone more tech savy can post up a link for you.

I would also try replacing the bleeders as they may be your air leak source. Rebuilding the MC is definitely the next step if you ask me but finding one online I can't. Hopefully your Kawi dealer can look up the guts of your MC and order parts.

But it's easy enough to get some bleeders and try replacing and if that doesn't do it, then yes rebuild the MC!

Also confirm the banjo bolts etc are torqued. Lots of places besides the mc that can cause issues (lines, calipers pistons, etc.). If you’re not getting air when you bleed, and it feels good after, you might want to confirm you don’t have a bent rotor. I went through a similar issue with my old Honda. Ended up being a warped rotor. Not enough to feel, but enough to slightly push the caliper pistons back a bit while riding and giving a spongy feel to the brakes.

well thats a new one i hadnt heard before!

ill check tightness on the fittings... waiting for the vacuum bleeder i ordered to arrive so i dont have to go back to kawa service center again, can just do it all at home.

i used to always vacuum bleed. But i've found i get a 100% better bleed every time using this bottle and creating a seal on the bleed nipple: [ame]https://www.amazon.com/Genesis-Person-Brake-Bleeder-Bottle/dp/B000W7F2GI[/ame]

All you have to do is open the bleeder and pump to your hearts content. Less work than dealing with my vac bleeder as well.

haha funny you mention that, i ordered something similar as well... its just a 1-way check valve, thats whats in the cap of that bottle one

gonna try both... i want firm brakes again damnit!

Had a friend with a 4th Gen replace brake pads with Vesrah had spongy lever as well bleed and bleed ended up being the backing plate for the pads that came with it he put stock pads back in problem went away !

was already spongy with the stockers before i changed to vesrah

did a bleed today with the 1-way check valve for the first time.. use a hell of a lot of fluid doing it that way lol... but fluid is cheap so who cares.... big ride tomorrow, will see how they feel.
