Hello

Got bad fork stiction on zx10r 2004.
Removed forks from bike
Open the fork tops
Tried moving the outer fork up and down on the stantion tube.
Moves but with bad stiction
If pulled up to the top the outer fork tube does not slide down the stantion tube because of the stiction even with dust seal removed.

Thanks
Jimmy

Several things could be wearing or worn out inside your forks. There are a few components of the fork that have a "slick" teflon layer on them. The inside material is brass or copper type metal. If you see the black layer and exposed metal on some of the slides inside the fork, that can cause this.

Other problem could be contaminated or work fluid now flowing through the valve shim stack.......or even the compression needle stuck.

Does the fork "stick" on rebound or compression? Back all the adjusters all the way off and compres the fork. It should be like a bouncy pogo stick. Then turn either the C or the R in all the way and notice the affects.

In a worst case your forks could be bent.
