First Kawi, first "litre" bike... WTF?

So, older, very experienced rider here.. I have a couple other bikes; a Tuono Factory (twin) and my daily ride - an F6B. I wanted something to round out the experience, so (after lots of reading) just picked up a 2004 black 10R. It has some nice mods; Akrapovic slip on, Power Commander, Gilles rear sets, Hyperpro steering damper, steel brake lines and -1, +2 gearing... All I can say is "FUCK ME", does it go. The Tuono is easy to wheelie, but this thing is stupid. What a rush. If I learn how to use half of the available performance, I'll be a happy guy...

Anyway, hello to the members here, glad to be a part of the forum and will learn as much as I can from you all..

Btw, I'm in the Vancouver area

Welcome to the party!

Glad to hear you're enjoying your new "Widow Maker"!!! If you're that impressed with a 10-year old liter bike, just wait until you ride a current generation one! :rockwoot:
There's a youtube vid where Brock overlays some of his past dyno runs on Kawasaki litre bikes. Your 1st Gen 10r makes a lot more bottom end and lower mid range power than even the 4th gen does. I've never ridden a 1st gen, but after seeing that video I understand why they call it the widow maker!
WA or BC?

:welcome: Newtogreen!

The first gens are by far my favorite. They are not the best handling, braking or even top end, but by the Grace of God they are the best at arm snapping.

..And the best looking :badteeth:

Aint this the truth! Im a newbie myself and this 2016 I just got is my first litre bike ever! I track ride and street ride and all my buds have 1000's. I never saw the need in getting a 1000 because none of the dudes I ride with could ever leave me like that and most of the time I'd be waiting on them to catch up. It def is all skill level difference in both street and track no matter what bike you on. Some ppls street navigation skills suck thru traffic which is why you see those straigt line gunners who want to hammer it for 30 seconds and talk smack like they riding hard but be brake checking all early in the turns. I don't get that! I converted my 636 to track bike and that where the skills jumped, but after while started to get anxious to ride more than I was and I had no street bike. So I when I saw the deal on this tremendous deal on a new ZX10, I pulled the trigger. But trust me when I say, a person on a 600 that wring the hell out of their bike and carve up the turns can bust you on 1000 if you cant ride worth a lick. Seen it, done it.

Gen 1 is iconic and becoming very sought after here in the UK. I have ridden all first four gens and owned gens 1, 3 & 4. Gen 4 is more "civilised" but not so thrilling or challenging to ride as the totally unforgettable gen 1....good choice
Thanks for the welcome everybody, appreciated. I'm in Vancouver BC and the Tuono is a 2007 Factory - red and white "lion head" graphics with blue wheels... trying to up load a photo, but can't figure it out yet..
