Hi everyone. Just wanted to join to get involved with some fellow riders in my area and get some insight on this new machine.

I've always owned GSXR-1000 for street and R6 for race. I hold a CCS license, CMRA license and WERA license. Placed 2nd in Formula 1 (CMRA), 3rd in Supersport C (CMRA). I raced Novice 2002, expert 2003-2008 and finally gave it up due to marriage, expenses, and declining economy along with sponsorships.

I now live in San Diego and about to move back to AZ.

I went to get a new GSXR 1k and after doing some research and comparing prices it was kind of a no brainer. A couple more thousand for a lot more machine.

Anyway, I hope to meet some good people and get caught up in the Superbike world.

What happened to all the AMA Roadracing and MotoGP that use to come on SpeedTV al the time....?

:hello:

Welcome to the party!

MotoGP is still televised when the season starts. But SpeedTV got bought out by FoxSports1 and shows more baseball and NASCAR than any other sports. AMA is gone too. Replaced this year by MotoAmerica with some limited televised events. WSBK is on the BeIN sports network which is usually a premium sports channel with most providers. They've certainly jumbled things around and made it hard to follow unfortunately.

You chose wisely.

Kawi, still state-of-the-art until proven otherwise, still the most power, lightest weight, yes, but most important, very good handling, few if any bugs, very comfortable for all-day rides yet works great on the track.

The GSX-R would be a really good choice if you never planned on doing track days and really needed to save the $$$, it's smooth, comfortable, and handles well as a street bike. But the brakes are not too well set up, so you need for sure to do the stainless steel lines, pads, and a super-bleeding session.

Kawi's brakes are excellent; I am borderline on doing the s/s lines every ride, I just can't justify it yet. One finger. But I'm 141 pounds, maybe a heavier rider would want to go ahead and do it. I would if I was using it for track days but I'm not.

The main thing is you get the electronics which are really well-sorted.

Thank you all. I bought it from Southbay Motorsports in Chula Vista, CA.
After I bought it the salesman pushed it to the parking lot for me and went over everything.
I then threw the Loaner helment on (Vega or some crap, Arai Corsair V Nicky 5 ordered) and threw my leg over and didnt not stop until Yuma, AZ. 187 miles on one tank. Drove through 44 degree weather, over 4000ft in elevation change and no complaints.
1 thing im NOT a fan of.....The 3 foot levers...lol They feel SOOOO long. I gotta change them.

Found some shortys on eBay and Amazon for about $50 for the pair. And they are 6061 and look good. For that price I really can't complain.

Definitely gotta get use to this big boy. I am use to the GSXR1000 for sure.
It had a pretty solid power band throughout the rpm range. That allowed me to ride wheelies from 1st through 6th up to about 130-140mph.
Not saying the Kaw won't do it but the power band seems to run tall (more race bred). Nothing to complain about...she's just a girl that likes to be wined and dined before I take the skirt off.
