Hi,

I'm trying to remove the upper right (offside) fairing panel of my '04 10R to get to my radiator and I'm stuck.

The manual says the final stage is to remove the 'Studs' (see attached
'Manual' picture), but on my bike the final thing that is seemingly securing
the upper fairing is two welded bolts (see other pics).

I know I'm so close to getting to the radiator and I'm loathed to put it all
back together again.

I'm sure I'm being a moron here, but I'd really appreciate it if you could
tell me where!

Thanks a million in advance,

Snotty

The easiest thing to do is

1) remove lower
2) remove mids
3) remove windscreen
4) unplug the two big plugs on the left side of the bike leading to the cluster and headlights
5) unbolt the three bolts (10mm) behind the instrument cluster.
6) carefully pull the whole upper faring forward.

Since you've gone that far, you just need a set of vice grips to get it off. I went through this last week, and it sucked, until I figured it out.

Lock the vice grips on the brownish/green circular thing as tight as you can. Rotate that bad boy like a nut (lefty loosey) and it will come right off. It isn't welded, though it appears to be.

Also, unplug that blinker and get it out of the way.

Nice one. Thank you both.

I ended up taking the whole front off in the end (as ZX10man suggested) to do my radiator, but thanks for your help Bove, coz I do need to isolate that upper panel sometime as it's scratched and I want to replace it.

Thanks again,

Exactly why I had to remove mine. I could take that thing off in 5 minutes now.

For getting access to the radiator, removing the whole upper fairing as an assembly is the easiest way to do it.
