Your not doing anything wrong, it's normally a little out of line. An extra set of hands here always helps one to push the mount bolt in and possibly a little turn to locate the hex drive as it goes in, you can go the other after making sure the bolts and rods are in but slack with the guide sleavs still backed all the ways in, you can use a long screwdriver type tool in the frame mount to engine as lever to align them as the other pushes the rod through. I always fit the long rods first before the 2 shortrr top bolts, which means I can remove the jack and realign it to raise or lower the front of engine.
