This is a thread in an attempt to curb all the double posting as well as provide a centralized solution for individuals to find what they need to do to correct the issue...

So you are riding your 4th Gen and feel a cylinder drop out while riding and your inline 4 now feels and sounds like you're riding a twin. This is happening irregardles of what you were doing and how long you have been riding. The problem seems to come and go, uncommanded.

What's wrong?
-There is an issue in the firmware versions that is causing one of the cylinders to drop off and basically stop functioning.

How to fix?
The only two verified ways to stop the issue, is upgrade your Dynojet firmware to either the 1.6.10 or 1.9.2 versions. If you have a Secondary Fuel Module (SFM) this will need to be updated as well.

Where can you get the firmware versions?

You can get the latest official release from Dynojet:
http://www.powercommander.com/powercommander/Downloads/powercommander_downloads.aspx?ProdType=PCV

These versions are hosted separately. Testing results are in bold. (Updated 27JUL13)
1.6.10 --> https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11761730/PC5 Moto V0.1.6.10.zip Confirmed to work
1.9.0 --> https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11761730/PC5 Moto_V0.1.9.0.zip Issue still potentially exists with this version, use 1.9.2 instead!
1.9.2 --> https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11761730/PC5 Moto_V0.1.9.2.zip Confirmed to work
1.10.4 --> https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11761730/PC5Moto_v0.1.10.4.zip Untested as of 27JUL13
1.10.6 --> https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11761730/PC5Moto v0.1.10.6.pvu.zip Untestested as of 14JAN14
1.10.6.4 --> http://www.powercommander.com/downloads/Support-Released/PCV/Software/Install_Power_Commander_5_v1.0.6.4.zip

Good info. :ayyy:

I might add that the latest firmware versions are also available for download on DynoJet's website.

I really appreciate this info, just ran into this problem yesterday with a newly installed PCV/Autotune. Downloaded and installed 1.6.10 for an upcoming track weekend. No time for longer street ride to test but from reading the original thread I feel pretty confident it will work fine.

UPDATE: older firmware worked perfectly, this site is awesome!

Oro Valley huh? I'm in Globe.
I'm running version 1.6.10 on mine and yes it has resolved engine cut-out kinda.
Instead of it cutting a cylinder constantly for a brief period of time, I get intermittent cut-outs only in 1st at or around 2500RPM.

Track day coming up next weekend and I'm still trying to get it all right.
Any tips/tricks/help?

1.0.6.4 has been giving me issues lately. I'm going to try the 1.6.10 here today.

Will the expansion module need to be updated before it's installed on the bike?

Big thanks, for taking the time to write this up! :thumbsup:

I had a PCV installed, along with getting my Yoshimura R77 pipe, a few weeks ago. Have been having this happen, once or twice a week, since then. Going to pull my seat this upcoming weekend and updating the firmware, to see if that fixes it. Would be freakin' awesome if that's ALL it takes to put a stop to it. For now I've just been pulling off the road, shutting her down and restarting to stop it (which does work). I'm keeping my fingers crossed, that this will do it. Thanks again!

I installed Guhl ECU flash and PC5 last week. I got first symptoms second day, no power, engine was "burping". Switched ignition off and back on. No issues for a week. Today at the morning, no power, engine sounded bad, "burping". During lunch break same thing, first worked well, then two times in a row one cylinder out and "burping".

Started to google.

FW was 1.8.5, now I updated FW to 1.9.2. I hope this will end this story. Will update.

And you never thought to mention it to me when I told you about it??? SMH

Well, now I know. I'll be updating as soon as the weather's nice enough to step outside.

I didn't think it sounded like the same problem, that's probably why.

Just downloaded and installed V 1.10.6. If I have any issues, I'll post up as soon as I can. Otherwise, here's hoping it solves the issue!
