After my chain snapped at the Nurburgring and took out the drive shaft bearing housing I need to fit a new one, is it straight forward, Ive removed the sprocket cover, chain guide and front sprocket so im left with the water pump i think it has the big rubber hoses attached to it and it looks like this needs to come off to get the bearing cover off, can the bearing cover be removed easily?

Thx Dave

Your waterpump needs to come off to gain access to the bearing cover. The 2 waterpump mounting bolts are at the 10 and 5-oclock positions, the other bolts hold the waterpump cover onto the housing and can stay. If you dont break the cooling system open you dont need to drain the coolant, but if you do there is a bolt on the pump cover to do this.
Is the cover leaking oil? Did the chain lock the engine?

Hi Guys, thanks for the reply's, the chain luckily didnt lock the wheel and only took out the casting on the cover that mounts the sprocket cover top bolt, as the cover broke here it left a 5mm hole in the cover which rendered the bike immobile as it dumped all the oil. I left the bike in Germany as this happened just as we were leaving to catch the ferry back to the UK. I returned 2 days later with a van to bring the bike home.

Unfortunately i wont be able to put a bolt in the middle of the cover as this is the part that broke off.
