So, was I really lucky this morning or what?

My normal ride to work takes in a section of road, the limit is 45 mph, it's a straight road, about 1 mile long, with farm fields each side of it. The start of the road has a tight 90 degree right hand bend, the other end has a round-a-bout where I turn left!

I normally tip into it the first turn at 40+ mph, I'm normally doing about 60+ mph out of this bend. A 1 mile straight where I don't normally stick to 45 mph, then a round-a-bout, which if it's clear I like to enter at maybe 30 mph to turn left at. That's my 2 corners I get to see every day.

Today there was an SUV 1/2 way down the straight, so I decided to back it off from the 60 mph I was doing as I exited the first right hander. 1/2 way down the road I find a motorcycle police man with a speed camera. DOH! He's definitely clocked me as I exited the turn at an indicated 60. He looks up at me and shakes his head and leaves me to go on....

I know for a fact my speedo over-reads by 6mph @ 60mph. (Radar verified). So I was probably "painted" doing a true speed of 54 in a 45. Would you normally expect to be let off at this speed, on an unpopulated piece of road, or was he being kind?

Either way. Kudos to the police around here, they don't seem very heavy handed. Nothing like I expected from all the bashing they get on this forum!

Rob

PS. Stuck to the speed limits the rest of the way in to work! Man! I need to get another track-day booked to get the desire to go fast out of my system for a while.

Don't consider yourself too lucky just yet. He'll be back there again in the future. If you think about it, he may have been there because somebody complained about some guy on a bike that was speeding? That's usually the reason they show up in the middle of nowhere like that. He gave you a break today since it was his first day out there but, he won't next time.

Cant remember the last time i was ticketed for doing under 10mph over. Damn right i expect to be let off. Come to where i live and youll find out real quick how nice cops are around here. Indy cops like to get drunk, on the job, get behind the wheel and run over bikers sitting at a stop light, killing one of em. Not all cops are bad.......just the ones here in Indiana:lol:. Small town popo is the worst!!

Or it's just a stretch of road wheer everyone speeds as it's not in a built up area, just outside of actually.

Like I said, I need a track-day and to re-address my road speeds, I'm not often doing 9 mph over the limit. (read that how you like)

I've seen HIM 6 times, I wonder how many times he's seen me? (Probably more!)

Cheers

Ya around here anything less then 10 over is normally thrown out because it's more work then it's worth. That being said I pretty much do 10 over everywhere I go and haven't been stopped in almost 3 years and that was for 15 over in a Geo Metro on wet twisties. I still can't believe I got that damn car to do 70.
