My bike was stolen recently, and so when (if?) my insurance pays up I'll be putting an alarm on the new bike.

However I'd also like a GPS tracking unit so that if it happens again I can hunt them down and feed them angry badgers.

If there is any good off the shelf option I'd like to hear about it. Otherwise, would it be feasible to build my own?

It would be nice if it could alert me by email if the bike moves after being shut off and alarmed.

The GPS receiver part is simple, but something to transmit the data (via cell network) in a useful fashion is the trick.

Any ideas?

i would be game to put something like that on my bike only if the insurance would make my payments cheaper/deduct the cost of that from my payments. If not then i wont.
