so basically like this and it should work:

This is the cable that I bought: Amazon.com: USB to 5v TTL Header Like FTDI TTL-232R-5V: Electronics.

Connect the cable's brown and green (CTS and RTS) together, black to the bike's two ground wires, and orange and yellow are the two communication lines (TXD,RXD...try both ways if necessary). Leave red disconnected.

It works great on my '07 ZX6-R.

I didnt really understand what goes where. Could someone explain to me whats what on this plug? i guess both black/white is ground, yellow/black is +12, orange and pink is data

The race kit manual has a wiring diagram. Should be able to find a PDF version of it online. The 2 wires going to the ecu are data. The others should be self explanatory in the wiring diagram. I think you have it right, but best verify which is ground and which is power in the manual.
