Concerned with dyno numbers.

Yes, a dyno thread.. I'm fully aware of how a dyno works and differences from location to location and all of those aspects.

Basic facts:

Bike in question, 2013 10r. Dyno'd 160 hp with slip on, no cat, new oem air filter, good plugs, 5k miles. Fresh oil, Chain recently cleaned and lubed correctly, chain tension is good, not too tight. 93 octane.

Let the bike cool for a few and flashed the ecu with the woolich racing setup. 172hp.

Here is the issue... my 06 with an exhaust did 164hp. A 2014 s1000rr with exhaust did 180 (no pcv, no flash etc) and so on and so forth. Seen 177-184 out of other 10r's with a flash etc.

I'm familair with this dyno and the numbers people see on it. I was expecting in the upper 170s at least. Bike has no codes and seems to be running correctly. No fuel delicery issues, No odd dips in power. Bike is lean down low but was actually almost 13.2-1 at peak power so there isn't much to be gain at peak.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

A few HP can be the difference in tires and climate. I wouldn't worry as long as the afr looks good across the board.

Conditions were decent and correction was in STD. Tires are Q3s with about 100 miles on them. Properly inflated to not add drag and no spin on pulls.

But what were the other bikes running and how different were the conditions? Did the Dyno operator mention that you could have a problem?

Again I wouldn't stress much.

Some were within the same time frame. A few of the others were actually done under worse conditions.

Yes, it was obvious that I'm down some.
Well if your down some its what it is..When they come from factory they all dont make same hp/tq #'s but they to allow a min result to ship..Maybe you have a hang over monday bike..Who knows but i wouldnt sweat the #'s that much..The hp number on a dyno is more for bragging rights than performance..A few corrections factors and done in sae over std can change the outcome a huge amount..

I'm aware of all of that, this is not a factor in this case.
Leak down/compression test, check cam timing, check cylinder bores, check squish.

Yeah, I figured that would be the next course of action. Was just hoping for less of a hassle lol :) thanks
As mentioned before, bikes can vary a few hp from the factory. My friend and his ex put down 179 and 181 hp with their 2012 zx-10r. My 2012 put down 186hp on the same dyno. We also had the EXACT same mods. We all had reflash with Akra link pipe and exhaust.
I never waste time on dyno. Reality is how long tires last. Tires are valid dyno. Or, when the green flag drops The bullshit stops.

Yeah, it's completely possible I just got a low performing bike.. just trying to cover all my bases.

This post is useless and contributes nothing... may God have mercy on your soul.
get a friend with a zx10r to dyno with you, and see the results...

I have a friend that went with me, he is stock except the normal things (kit ecu and exh) 183, mine has airbox mood, head gasket, woolich, slip on. and made 189. and 5hp more all the way up.
Put on some lighter wheels and a bald tire, you will then find your lost HP. Honestly speaking your worried about what 5hp? 90% of rider are not capable of using all 172hp the bike makes anyway so why worry? You wanna tell your Bro's yo son my bike make mad power yo and then measure your dicks together.

It's not even about that... it's making sure there isn't an underlying issue that could end up being a major problem later.

the dyno tuner you went to, does he have graphs of previous gen 4 zx10r runs on that dyno. also, break in process can free up 10hp.

R1M guy came back for update after 10k miles rolled over and he picked up 8hp from the engine loosening up.

if your dyno tuner is not a moron, he'd know if something was on or off with the bike and tell you.

does your bike ride well? then good, go ride it.
