Good Evening all,

So today my fender eliminator kit and integrated tail light came in, install was super easy, nailed it on the wiring first go'round. Everything flashes the right way etc......

However, after i had everything together i cranked it up and noticed the check engine light was on.......It got dark by the time i had everything put together so i didnt get a chance to triple check my work but im almost 100% positive that i got everything back together right. Any ideas on what could of caused it? See below for the specific light i got. This is the first Kawi i owned my R6's i never ran into this issue

Bike: 2016 KRT Non-ABS

Did you unplug any of the sensors to make more room for yourself to work in there? I installed the Moto Dynamics rear integrated tail light in my Gen 5 and had no problems with CEL light coming on. I only touched the wires needed for the rear tail lamp, it was very tight though, so maybe you unplugged something.. read the code find out what it is and if its nothing to worry about ride it and it should turn off on its own after a few cycles.

I did the same exact thing. I had cranked up the bike to take a look at the light before getting the complete tail section on. I had left one of the sensors in the tail unplugged while testing and it threw the CEL. Plugged everything up and closed up tail section. It took a few rides for it to clear.

turning the code off has procedure.

If the Kawasaki Diagnostic System (KDS Ver.3) is not available, do the following procedures. •Turn on the ignition switch and start the engine. •Fulfill the all conditions shown below. 1. Run the engine more than 10 minutes. 2. Keep the idling speed more than 30 seconds. 3. Run the vehicle more than 5 minutes at a speed of 40 km/h (25 mph) or more. 4. Turn the ignition switch off. •Repeat the above procedures 3 times. •Start the engine and check that the warning indicator lights (LED) go off.

You better off take it to the dealer and have them turn it off, the manual procedure almost is impossible to do. Or if you have Woolich software you can turn it off.

Yea I did. I pulled the whole tail apart and i turned the key on to verify I had right positive leads on the left/right blinker. Think it could have been the tip over sensor?

Good Evening guys,

So i tried everything, disconnected the battery, disconnected the ECU, the code removal procedure that chiffeee mentioned (you were right its damn near impossible to meet all those conditions, not safely in San Diego traffic at least)..... no joy. I was trying to avoid taking it to the stealership and paying $100+ for them to wipe the code but hey guess thats the route i have to go. Its just about time for my break in service anyway. This is me just being paranoid but I dont know how strict their warranty but do you think it will be voided since I messed with the factory wiring (totally reversible i didnt break or solder anything just plug and play).

Thanks in advance!

Fernando
Just explain that you put the rear light on and you disconnect the wire and turned it on, that is why the light came on and you just need the code clear. most dealers will do it for you and may charge a minimum, not one HR for diagnostic. If they don't do it then take it to another dealer and never go back there.
**update**
Hey guys so after riding the bike all week with the check engine light on today for some reason it just turned off. Thanks for all the help I really appreciate it. I didn't think that it would take that long for the light to turn off because I wrote it to work almost every day this week and I have about a 25 mile commute
