when installing the new intake race cam do you have to get new shims to adjust them , or does'nt need adjustment , and just leave the old shims in place :dontknow:

well all depends on how they are to begin with, the cam specs might be slightly different.... half the time they check out to be ok but its always in the best interest to check clearances and re-shim if needed.

You need to check the valve clearances after any cam is installed - doesn't matter if its stock or race. If they are not in spec, the cam gets removed and the shims swapped out with different thickness shims, and the process is repeated until all the clearances are good.

Since it is opened up, just do a check before buttoning things up.

the manual has step by step instructions if doing this your self.... you basically measure how loose they are and find out what spec is and look to see what size shim is in there and go up to what ever size needed to make the clearance in spec.... they have a nice lil chart in the manual.

Dont try to degree your cams untill all your valve clearances are good.
