Are there differences between the two? If so, what. I heard the replacement has dual compound where the OEM does not. Is this true? My 08 came with the BT's and I love them. If the replacement is any better I'm definately going with them as a replacement and probably will anyway. BTW, I did a search and got tired after about 45min. of reading.

IIRC the aftermarket tires have 3 componds in the front and 5 compounds in the rear. The OEM have 3 in the front and 3 in the rear. I replaced my OEMS with Aftermarket and I think they are pretty good.

2 compounds front, 3 compounds rear. split into 3 & 5 sections.
:+1:Front tire features dual compound (3LC) to provide grip in all riding modes. The center compound offers linear handling while the shoulder compound secures high grip and solid contact feeling

Rear tire features a new triple compound (5LC) The center compound offers good stability, the shoulder compound transfers power to the road with strong traction while the edge compound offers strong side grip and solid contact feeling at extreme lean angles

thats from the bridgestone tyre website... if they did have the 3 compounds in the front and the 5 in the rear that would be a hell of a tyre thats for sure...

For street riding, I am loving the BT016 (except the O.E.M. front). I have never done a track day so I can't speak for that. I ran 4200 miles on the OEM rear. I am at 5400 now and the non-OEM rear rocks. I have done some med-hard accelerations through some curves and it feels like it can take hard-insane acceleration. Since I still have the OEM front which feels like it wants to give, I don't push it too hard. I still have 1/2" chicken-stripes on the back but until I replace my front I choose to keep the shiney side up. LOL

I got 4002 miles out of the OEM bt016s and liked them alot. the only complaint was that I never truly trusted the front end, felt kinda heavy on turn in. replaced them with a set from motorcycle superstores online. IMO the replacements are so much better than the OEMs. It's like a different bike. Turn in is so much better now! got rid of the chicken strips front and rear in the 1st 500 miles.

dont put them back on , go with--- BT 003 rs --- 100 times better

What kind of mileage are you getting out of the 003's? Total miles, not MPG. Kind of important to me. Not the only factor but don't want to be replacing them every 3,000.

BTW, thanks for all the replys so far. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. TIA.

its funny how different the responses are when the question is a few weeks apart. i just asked this question a few weeks ago and i got the exact opposite answer with everyone saying the 016 is a better all around street/track tire.

honestly, the 016 is every bit as good as the corsa 3 imo, but the life out of them is definitely shorter then the corsa 3. that's what happens with a softer tire though.
