Hey guys....I need some help. I have a 1st generation ZX10r. I have had many many clutch problems. From slippage to busting the clutch release comp puller. (I have busted three of these since November) I have a Brocks Clutch Cushion installed with EBC clutch fibers. I installed the cushion to avoid the clutch getting dry and ruining the fibers, but I cannot a clutch setup that works properly and allows me to race her on a regular basis.

I'm contemplating going to OEM clutch fibers with Barnett springs with Motul full synthetic oil. What are you guys using and what is the purpose of your riding. I would like my bike to be race-able but I also use it daily.

Frustrated and confused....please help!

What kind of racing you talking about drag or road racing. My Gen 1 is track only with ebc plates works great no failure issues. What engine mods have you done.

Have you checked the clutch basket for play are the rivet's holding the basket securely in place. If your clutch basket is sloppy it could account for the problems your having. These small clutch's on the 10R's really do not like to be drag raced not enough clutch area to deal with all the heat of hard launching. From the looks of your clutch pusher you are having some severe internal clutch pressure's as the pusher is being destroyed from engaging and disengaging the clutch. Look for any marks on the clutch hub are their metal shaving's in the clutch basket. Do you have a Kawi service book for the bike. I would pull the clutch basket out and check all component's for wear and make sure all parts are in spec.

I know that these are simple things but make sure your stack height is correct and no warped steel drive plates.

We (me and wife) run a gen3 and gen4 with all OEM steels and fibers. NO Brocks Cushion kit and use my slipper clutch eliminator. The gen3 uses 4 KG HD springs with 1mm spacers under the hat and 2 Brocks heavy duty springs with his spacers.
The gen4 uses all OEM steels and fibers, 2 Brocks Extra HD springs, 2 GSXR1000 valve springs, 2 Brocks hd springs with spacers and 1mm washer.

We race every weekend from March until October and usually run 10-15 passes in 4-5 hours.

I've got a cycle concepts drag pack in the gen 4 and worked great the one track day I did on it last year. I'd call him up, he really knows his stuff and gave me some good advice when I talked to him last year. (803) 285-8093

I ran amsoil for some of last year and I think the motul 3100 for the last track day and a few street miles. I'm going to switch to just regular old Rotella T though this year because I'm going to change my oil after every track day. After seeing all the sludge from a burnt clutch on the basket after frying my old clutch, figured it's cheap safety
