Battery or not charging?!

Hi, I have 2010 ZX10. I've just been for a ride and the bike has died. I've had my battery on an optimax and it fired up fine. After about 20mins the display went blank, then it started misfiring and then it died. When you turn the ignition on the clocks now come to life but it wont turnover and there is a clicking noise coming from the airbox area with carries on for a few seconds even when the ignition is turned off. There is now only 10v at the battery. Is this the battery, the charging circuit or something else?!
Thanks in advance!

That's the battery it doesn't have enough juice to kick over the bike. If it's a new battery it may just need to be jumped and let run for a little to charge itself if it's old I'd replace it.

Battery is used to start engine, charging system is used to provide electricity for all the components when the engine is running ( fuel pump, fuel injectors, coils..............etc). If the charging system isn't charging, and battery is fully charged, your bike will start, but will only run till it uses all the electricity out of the battery. You can take the battery to a local parts store and have it tested if you'd like, but in your case it's probably charging system, stator or regulator. You can check it by charging your battery and starting the bike and measuring voltage while the engine is running, it should be around 14v (4k rpm or so). If your volt meter is showing 12.5v or anything bellow 13v....................while the engine is running, well your charging system is faulty.

Could be faulty alternator, but most likely the regulator rectifier, or wiring between the two.

This is for a gen 4, but should be very similar, bar the location of the regrec on the gen 3.

Do you have a service manual?
