Covering what has proven to be one of the most vulnerable joints in motorcycle leather suit construction, the shoulders of the MX-1 suit are covered in a high-modulus thermoplastic protector. This design reduces the amount of stress the seams over the shoulder would otherwise be expected to endure in a crash, significantly reducing the risk of seam separation and at the same time distributes impact energy over a larger area to reduce the likelihood of injury.

As an added bonus, these protectors also allow a high degree of ventilation in an area where it would otherwise be considered unsafe. Under the leather below this external armor, Alpinestars CE-certified GP protectors further aid in impact dispersion and absorption.

Specially-sewn leather accordion stretch panels are built into the suit behind the shoulders, at the lower back, above the kneecaps and just above the elbows allowing the rider a wide range of movement with no discomfort on or off the bike.

A large aerodynamic hump is fitted as standard. The hump is rendered with a hollowed-out internal foam liner to take advantage of the die-cut perforation at the top of it. In doing so, cool air is delivered straight to your back – providing much relief to the side of your body that spends most of its time getting baked by the sun when you’re on the bike.

The Alpinestars MX-1 includes a three-position snap fitting just below the collar which allows you to precisely place the back protector where it fits best. Alpinestars CR One Piece Leather Suit

Aimed squarely at the road-going rider who does the occasional trackday, the CR one-piece leather suit from Alpinestars is designed for maximum comfort whether you’re in full tuck or just scratching it out on the streets when it’s sunny. It features many of the same construction techniques as Alpinestars’ top-of-the-line models such as multiple-stitched seems, CE-certified GP protectors in the knees/shins, elbows and shoulders, fully-removable mesh liner and even foam chest pads that can be upgraded with a set of Bionic Chest Guards.

Just like the other suits featured here, the CR suit also comes with a secure-snap back protector mounting system that attaches to a Bionic Race Back Protector.

Alpinestars SP-1 Leather Suit

The SP-1 suit from Alpinestars is a full-on race suit that’s cut for a perfect fit when you’re on the bike. CE-Approved GP armor is found everywhere in this suit: knees, elbows and shoulders are all covered in this dual-density padding. Like the other suits here, a provision has been made for an Alpinestars Bionic Race Back Protector to snap-into place – improving comfort and safety at the same time. Just add a set of Bionic Race chest guards for full-coverage protection. If you spend most of your time riding in hotter climates, this is the suit for you with perforated leather on the chest, legs, arms, back and hump. YKK zippers, combined with the removable/washable liner make getting into and out of this suit easy. There are also zippered expansion gussets on the calves for those of you that spend some time at the gym … or just have big calves. Below many portions of the suit and sewn into certain areas, extra padding is included to reduce bruising should your ride get a little too spirited.

Accordion stretch panels are fitted in all the usual places making movement easy on and off the bike.

A combination of accordion stretch panels and Kevlar in areas that are least likely to come into contact with the ground in a sliding type crash, the SP-1 affords the wearer a great deal of flexibility.

Die-cut perforations can be found from the shoulders all the way down to just above the knees.

For those of you with large calves, a zipper function prevents the constriction of blood flow to the feet which could lead to cramping and reduced rider control.

Like the MX-1 and CR suits, the SP-1 comes standard with Velcro-closure pockets on the chest which includes PE foam padding. We recommend that this be upgraded with a pair of Bionic Chester Guards from Alpinestars for maximum impact protection.

The large aerodynamic hump acts to reduce the impact force felt by the rider while at the same time allowing copious quantities of air to enter the backside of the suit when the rider is at speed.

Alpinestars RC-1 Leather Suit

We also have a range of Alpinestars RC-1 suits available! GP Armor can be found in the shins, shoulders and elbows along with smartly-placed foam pads in the hips, chest and back compartment - the latter of which can be upgraded with a CE-certified unit from Alpinestars.

Leather accordion stretch panels are fitted as standard behind the shoulders, at the lower back and above the knees. There’s also a large aerodynamic hump on the back added protection and ventilation.

The suit employs a die-cut ventilation scheme on the front with the entire center of the chest, from the neck to the hips being perforated for maximum airflow. There are also intakes on the shoulders and forearms that effectively allow air get to the inside and a removable mesh liner promotes cooling efficiency.

Long-lasting Alpinestars GP knee sliders are included with the RC-1 suit.

Stretch panel inserts on the arms and around the crotch make the suit fit like a glove for a wide range of builds.

Other colors are available as well, like gray (shown) blue or red RC1 suits.
