Alright, so a while back I bought an 06 636 to turn into a stunt bike. As far as the title goes, the guy I bought it from had bought it from an insurance agency, so the title is signed by the insurance rep, as well as attached to a form for title transfer signed and stamped by the insurance rep. I never put the bike in my name, stunt bikes are kind of like track bikes. Mine was only going to be used in a lot so I didn't NEED to transfer titles (right away.)

Well some guy wants to buy it off me now, but says I can keep the title (he plans on it being a lot bike.) Now I've seen JUST A TITLE for sale on ebay and other forums, but was wondering if there is anything extremely wrong with it.

I'm a little hesitant, but I know that you can buy blank frames and have a VIN stamped into it upon registration, etc.

What do I do?!

If I followed that correctly, only the seller info is filled out on the title? If so, just give your buyer the title and both of you sign a Bill of Sell so you can prove you are no longer the owner or in possession of the bike. This practice is very common with dirt bikes and track bikes. If any of the title has your name on it, get the tittle transferred into your name, then go to with your buyer to the tax office and make sure they tranfer it to their name. i personally don't mind having a non-street bike w/o it being in my name, but I make damn sure the title is in condition that I can or the next person can title and register if desired, AND I also never sell a bike (or anything else) to someone that is in my name w/o making them transfer the title. All about the CYA! :helmet:

(just my 2 pennies. I'm no lawyer nor do I represent the opinion of the forum or it's owners )
