Hello all. Allthough i have been reading these forums for quite some time, I am a new member and this be my first post, so for that, hello to everyone and thank you all for some great reading :)

I just made a move from an 01 zx9r to an 05 zx10r. The new bike has the 16t front sproket which is throughing the speedo off. There are so many other parts I am buying and want to purchase before a speedo healer, so in the meantime.

Can anyone just give me an idea as to the speed difference im lookin at from having the 16t in front. I know this is crazy talk and speedo healer is the right fix! Just an idea until I want to get to that speedo healer purchase lol.

:welcome:

The best way to determine this is with a GPS device to record difference as it will also depend on your tire size and wear. But if the 16 tooth is the only difference, you're off somewhere in the neighborhood of 10-12%
Thank you for that. The tires are stock size as is the rear sprocket.
This is a good site for theoretical changes to gearing and the effect of it.

I have found this site to be inaccurate.

Really? It's THEORETICAL based on the math. In reality, of course, it won't be accurate in the real world based on ALL the different variables involved - aerodynamics, power output, differences in tire sizes, etc, etc.. I listed it here to be able to calculate THEORETICAL differences between speeds for given gears, not as an absolute for calculating the error.
