"Where Were You?" Everybody remembers EXACTLY where they were & what they were doing 9/11/01. Now tell me..... where were you?

Members please,
Only post your stories of where you were and what you were doing when you learned of the attack.

Please, do not post your feelings about the war, Islam, our government etc...

I intend to copy members stories to a scrapbook for future generations of my family.

Thank you one and all.

I'll start this off...
I was in the hospital with my wife as she was scheduled for major back surgery that morning at 7 am. I was asleep on the uncomfortable ass cot next to her in her room. Shortly after 6 or so, the nurses came in her room to start getting her ready for Pre Op. I woke up and turned on the tv, was flipping thru the channels and stopped on Headline News. And it was showing the first tower fully engulfed in flames and smoke saying they had reports of a plane crashing in to the tower. As they were talking, the camera panned up and there came the second plane. SMASH, in to the second tower.
I said, "We are under attack".
One of the nurses said, No, that's just Hollywood.
I said, " That's Headline News, that ain't Hollywood".
And they all GASPED and said, "OH MY GOD".
Realization set in and some started to cry.
Then they rolled my wife to Pre OP and out she went.
I went to the Surgical waiting room and watched the rest of the story unfold.

It's like the older folk that remember the Kennedy assassination.
They remember to this day, exactly where they were and what they were doing.

Like them, I will never forget where I was and what I was doing. NEVER
God Bless all the lost souls from that day. You are not forgotten.
Except the ones who did it. Hope you burn in hell forever for the loss you caused.

Sound Off.....

Skipped school to help my Mom move furniture. Had people there installing carpet. TV/Furniture was out out of living room, so I watched it on the TV in her room.

Weird how I can precisely remember everything about that day, but can't tell you what I did last week.

I had just got off shift where I did anti-terrorism with a Fortune 500 company in Colorado. Weird thing was, I had picked up where Masood was assassinated with the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan, and had picked up a blurb where they ceremoniously made Osama bin Laden Defense Minister...thought it was strange at the time. Then it all made sense that day.........

When the 2nd plane hit, I knew without a doubt I'd find some way to either be back on active duty or over here in the area of operations somehow. Been here since 2004 and out only for vacations and couldn't think of any other thing I'd want to have done. It was a calling for me, like many of the guys I work with....doing STUFF.

To this day, when we roll on a mission, every mission since 04, my words to the guys are "Lets Roll", in honor of the first hero's that fought the first battle on Flight 93.

Will NEVER forget......

At work. Somebody ran into the shop and yelled that a plane hit the trade center. Listening to Howard Stern and then turned on the TV. I remember one of our senior mechanical engineers say that it's impossible to have the towers fall, and then it happened.

I was in construction at the time. We was building a large doctors office. My boss came on the job site and told us that a plane had crashed into the trade center. I was standing on the ceiling joists looking down at him getting ready to frame the roof with rafters. We was like "OMG!" We just thought it was a plane crash and not a terrorist attack. Then later on in the day we heard about the second plane.

I was working on a engine on one of our Coast Guard boats. I was walking up to the station to get tools when someone came out of the office saying a plane hit the WTC. We all watched as the other planes hit. The base immediately went into lockdown. I had the unfortunate pleasure of having duty that day. So we went out to patrolled San Juan bay every two hours in addition to escorting in and out EVERY cruise ship that showed up. Defiantly was a looooong night.

I was in second period in 10th grade we all thought the second plane hitting was a replay of the first plane until we saw two buildings on fire. That's when I decided to join the military and fight back, now I've been in for 7 years and been over there 4 times kicking some Taliban ass

I was in my barracks room in Atsugi Japan. Saw the second plane live. The JSDF posted a guard every 50 ft around the entire perimeter of the base. It was pretty crazy. Didn't take long before we were on the boat heading for the gulf again.

At work when my brother called and said walk outside and look at the towers. I worked in Westchester with a clear view of NYC. Man my stomach turned. That was a Tuesday. I sell Industrial Tools and supplies so I went down Thursday night with my brother to donate dust masks and gloves. I can still remember seeing the UPS and Fed-ex trucks hooked up with refigeration units driving by with bodies in them. Also seeing the volunteers driving by asking for cigarettes, man i bought a carton and was just throwing them at them. God Bless those who lost their lives and loved ones. That was one time where no one was white, black, hispanic or any other race. We were all just New Yorkers helping one and other out. What NY saw i never wish on anyone.People walking in Manhattan like Zombies with pics asking if you have seen there loved ones....man what a sight
