The CCT is fully extended and still gives a rattle noise, bike wasn’t starting earlier now it starts but does working 5 minutes of idling or when given throttle. Any help is appreciated, here’s a video Help me please 2007 ZX10R CCT issue

If your CCT is fully extended, you need to tear the motor down and inspect your cam chain and cam chain guides. With that said, 2nd Gen 10R's have a history of breaking valve retainers, which can lead to quite a bit of top end noise that can be difficult to isolate. Either way, if it was my bike the engine would be on the bench to go through it.

Hey Spaz,

While you're here, I know you're really experienced with working on these engines. What is the best way to minimize the possibility of stripping the bolt on the starter when turning the engine over by hand?

Backstory, last time I investigated cracked valve retainers, I stripped that bolt and it was a headache. I started to wonder if it was because I was using cheap harbor freight tools. I think I have somewhat better quality stuff from craftsman now but just want to see if there's anything I might be missing lol.
Torx head bolts just suck, especially on button head fasteners. Best thing I can tell you is to use hardened bits (the harbor freight guys can be a little soft), and minimize deflection (ie Use non-flex head ratchets and support the head of the wrench with your off hand while you turn. You can replace the bolt with a normal hex button head and that can help a little, but usually just being careful works the best. Also, if you have the plugs out and want to turn the engine over: you can throw it up on the rear stand, toe it into 6th gear, and just turn the rear wheel by hand.... it'll rotate the engine around pretty easily with the plugs out. :)

Thanks a ton, that gives me some more confidence now lol. I had no idea the engine could be turned that way while on the rear stand but it makes total sense, I just didn't put those pieces together in my head.

No worries... biggest thing is to just pop the sparkplugs out... takes so little effort to turn it over at that point that it would be difficult to damage the screw.
