Photos will show to give an understanding.
Tools & materials required~
1. Metric allan wrench set
2. Electrical connectors. Solder, & solder iron. Or a crimp tool
3. Electrical tape. Or shrink sleeves.
G'day ZX10Rer's! This tail tidy installation was done to the 2015 model, ( time taken 75 minutes), & unsure if 2011 to 2014 will be the same. All you'll need for all access is to remove the rear seat (using the key), remove the rear cowl cap ( removing 4 x allan bolts), & remove the tool kit.

Photo #1. Inside the right rear tail, is a rubber jacket protecting the rear electrical connectors, where you'll peel it back exposing the connectors, the 2 pin connector with the male end with these color wires is the licence plate light wiring, where this male connector will be what you'll plug your new tail tidy LED licence plate wiring into.

Photo #2. At the rear of the inside tail is the licence plate tail assembly mount bolt, where another mount bolt is to it's left.
These 2 x 5mm allan bolts removed is all you'll need, along with unplugging the 2 pin connector, to remove the whole assembly, using a shimmy action for it to come off.

Photo #3. Added care to give moisture protection entering the licence plate light wiring entry port, where I've hade these licence plate light failure's before by moisture entering this way which killed it's circuitry. Where i just use a very tight fitting Oring with a black nylon washer over that, where bolted in it makes a moisture dam at the wire entry port.

Photo #4.This is a aftermarket tail tidy designed to fit a 2015 ZX10R, where these 2 x tube's slide into the ZX10R's oem mounting system, making it bolt up the same way as the OEM original 1 came out, & the licence plate light wiring is passed up one of these tubes for connect up.

Photo #5. Once the new tail tidy is bolted in position, you can either direct wire up the new licence plate LED to a 2 pin female same connector , or make up a connector peice, where either will do, & once tested A OK? Then tuck all the rear electrical connectors back into the protection rubber sleeve, & reassemble the tail upper cowl, & rear seat, & you are done.

Photo #6. With all aftermarket tail tidy's for this model, your going to end uo with this open hole in the wheel well. But a tube of black gasket sealant & a rubber plug the same diameter will fix this. But until you get this plugged, i wouldnt ride it in the rain.

7 & 8 show finished tail tidy installed. All up this aftermarket tail tidy ordered from china, was $38 AUS, came with black tail tidy, 3 LED's licence plate light with 400mm of wire with 3mm male bullet connectors , 500mm black wire sleeve, & 5 x cable ties, delivered in 12 days.
Note, if this post comes up twice? Cant be helped, as my tablet has been do'n strange stuff lately, & when putting in a check? It states no faults?

Part #2. Waterproof plug up the wheel well hole, after tail tidy install.

Photo #2. What you'll need,
1. Mask tape.
2. Cleaner to prep hole.
3. Sharp knife.
4. Gasket sealant.
5. 25mm diameter plug ( plastic or rubber) this is a $0.40c chair foot plug.

All you do is clean the area where the plug will fit to, mask up around the plug area, trim the mask tape over the exact hole with the sharp knife, run a 5mm bead of gasket sealant around the plug's diameter & insert in the hole, & use your finger to smooth out the sealant, & let dry (24-48 hours), & remove mask tape, & if you want, touch up with your color wheel well, paint pen. & you have a reliable waterproofed wheel well again for penny's.
