^^nice little write up. bike looks a hell of a lot smaller than previous gens so figured it would fit and feel very different.
Closest I could compare it is to my 07 ZX10R in how it handles. It rides very much like a ZX10R with dirt bike bars, but has no twitchiness. It just does what it's told when told, no drama. The motor is very torquey but does not have the above 8k rush of the ZX10R. On the street it gave up no distance to the two R1's and 1000RR I was riding behind. It pulls cleanly to 135mph, at about 8.5K. (in Mexico on a closed course :helmet:).

I'm sure there's potential to be found with the full Akra and Bazzaz. I'm also going to go DOWN 2 teeth in the rear. It's geared very short for my tastes and riding style.

Nice Bike. Almost looks like the ZX10R. Any particular reason you chose this over the ZX10R? I am assuming comfort?

Bingo. Also I was looking for a "vice grips" bike. I had a complete set of tools (4 bikes) and wanted something more rounded to narrow the fleet with. Garage looks empty with just one bike though. We'll see how long that lasts. :helmet:

She had an SV650S. She tried to Chuck Norris a telephone pole during an off road excursion and lost her will to ride solo. She prefers to ride pillion now. She doesn't know it yet, but I'm planing to schedule a track day and rent a Ninja 250 for her. I think if she'll just get back in the groove she'll ride again. Beside...she's smoken in those white A* leathers!

Oh...since we sold her bike she decided she "needed" some Christian Louboutin shoes. The Ferrari comment was she needed a car to match the soles. She was dissappointed when I nixxed the idea but cheered up when I mentioned getting another Porsche. :pale:

I ride with a girl who has a SV, she really likes it, mot my pick of a bike but to each is own. I think that would be a great thing, get her back on a bike and a 250 would be prefect.

No kidding- I didn't even catch on at first that it was the z1000 despite that being in the title.

Just didn't see that coming and ASSumed it was a 10r.

Still a very nice bike. Good all arounder.

I sold the 14 to buy this and don't regret it one bit. We loved the 14 for two up riding but it was a handfull on tight roads, especially 2-up. The Ninja 1K is just about perfect in my mind for the type of riding I do.

Can't wait to get my suspension installed then take it to the track. Curious to see how my times will compare to my ZX10R. :helmet:

I know it won't have the same terminal speed capability down the straights, but I never maxxed out the 10 on the straights anyway. :dontknow:

No updated pics yet, but have the Akra 4-2-1-2 installed with Bazzaz w/autotune.

I've been offerred to send my ECU in for reflashing at Dybotronics for free as it's the first they've done. Just waiting for after my CO trip in two weeks. Don't want to chance being w/o the bike. Also T-Rex is going to use my bike to prototype some no cut frame savers this Saturday..free again...whoop!

The bike is a blast to ride. Still haven't gotten it to the track since I still haven't had my AK20's and Penske modded to fit...again...waiting for after my trip. The stock suspension is fine for casual street use, but runs out of damping and spring rate when getting aggressive....at least with my 260#s squatting it down. :helmet:

I've had to adjust my riding position some. With the bars so high and back I use more of a Motard upper body position when riding at a quicker pace.

I've read the bike is speed limited, but I've yet to find that limit. It pulls cleanly through 155 indicated (on a closed circuit in Mexico of course). I'm not sure I ever reached that speed on the longer straight on the track on my 10. I'm betting my time won't be much if any different once the suspension is sorted.

Does your wife or gf have an opinion of the bike yet (comfort on longer trips)? My fiancee and I are doing about an 1800 mile trip this weekend to WSB on the superduke. I've really been eying this bike but haven't seen one in person yet. We would do a lot of two up riding. I'm also considering a concours but it's just so big.
