Alright guys, I'm picking up a orange 2009 zx10r when I get back from my deployment. I don't really know anything about the zx10r so here we go. I'm stationed at camp pendleton, CA. I'm going to be getting the bike from toledo OH because they are selling them 3K cheaper than anyone in CA. I want to make this the fastest and cleanest zx10 without turbos in Cali. The dealership that I'm getting it from is going to install a Muzzy full GP titanium system, K&N filter, Power commander, graves block of plates, and there going to run it on a dyno to tune it. Now I'm wondering if there is a better combo to make more power and is it really that smart to be running a brand new bike on a dyno? Thanks guys!

Well first of all are you getting it from Honda East ??? if so you better ask if that bike is a crate damaged bike ? ie: bikes that have had damage due to either towmotor forks hitting them or falling from being moved?? they (dealers) do not have to tell you about that and fix it with out you ever knowing anything.. unless you ask. now this place (honda east) has been known to do this.. also I would not trust them clowns to tune a bike ive been to that place several times and I would not buy a bike from them nor would I have any work done by them... thats just me ... Ive went in there acting like i did not knwo anything and they have some wild answers LOL also have asked about the damaged bikes and when asked the whole sales dept got quiet and I was being glared at LOL esp when I left LOL they prob thought how does someone know bout that stuff LOL that they do there... just ask questions before you buy thats all i say.. good luck if you want i can put you in touch with a good dealer that will not lie to you..

err i dont wanna sound like a bastard but if you are brand new to biking (which it sounds like) be really really careful with this much power man. Theres been way too many stories of military guys getting brand new crotch rockets only to be crashing them into guardrails and crazy shit like that; i'm just sayin, if you are new to the sport, please take a course and take it easy on the road!

Now back to the post, the best 'free' way to make the bike faster is to reduce weight. Shed all the street stuff and you've got a good start. The exhaust swap is also a great choice. Lighter weight sprockets (aluminum for rear), a lighter 520 pitch chain, lighter wheels (mag/CF, etc)... thats probably the ticket right there...... again, if you're planning to go fast in a straight line then i'm sure the guys who drag can give you advice on strappin front/ etc. But if this is still meant to corner, all that power is utterly useless without advanced riding skills.

I'm not a new rider. I've been riding dirt bikes since I was 8. I got my first bike in college. It was a 06 gsxr750. I lost 2 friends in 1 month so I sold it. When I got stationed at camp pendleton I bought a 2000 zr7 for commuting back and forth to work (50 mpg). I put over 20K on the bike in just over a year. I sold it about a week ago, So I am in the market for a new bike. I took the BRC, ERC and the sport bike coarse on base. My vocabulary is not the greatest or is my knowledge about fuel injected bikes. But thank you for looking out for the military. We just had a guy in my unit get killed on a busa. It was his first bike, first ride and he went on palomar mountain.

I like riding on the mountains around here so I want the bike to handle well too. Drag racing is for my Cobra:cool:

The bike will be fine on the dyno, break it in the way you want it to perform. You might want to research your exhaust choice a bit more. There are better exhaust systems out there that will make more power.

glad you didnt take any offense as none was meant!!

for best handling, I really recommend getting your suspension setup for your geared up weight, it really makes a world of difference. Next comes weight-loss, as I mentioned in my previous post.

Other than that, you really are pretty much good to go!

well guys, I'm going to go ahead and buy the bike from honda east. I talked to the sales women that my dad bought his kx250 from and the story is that they had bought alot of damaged bikes from a auction. She said the bike that i'm getting will be brand new and if it has even one scratch or nick on it that she will get me a different one. (Paying with cash helps) The plan is to have my dad pick the bike up and the parts up. When i go on post deployment leave I'm going to install the parts, break the bike in and then have precision tuning dyno the bike and adjust the suspension.

here is the list of parts so far
muzzy full titanium exhaust
K&N filter
Graves block of plates
Power programmer
zero gravity windscreen
fender eliminator kit
intergrated tail lights
