Ok, you know when you turn the key on, you hear the buzz of the fuel system

pressurizing. Well, my quit doing that and will not fire up. Bike cranks over but

does not fire.

I checked my fuses and unplugged and checked all of the pins in the

connections on the ECU.

Normally when you turn the ignition on, if you have the rear seat cowler off

you can see the 2 cables on the Exhaust Butterfly Valve Actuator move

back and forth. Mine isn't moving and the fuel system doesn't pressurize.

Anybody know why this is happening and have a fix for it ????

i know it may seem like a duh, but make sure it's in neutral and also that the kill switch on the right bar is not turned off. both of those would make the fuel pump not prime and no start

edit- nvm, just re-read and you say it cranks but doesn't start. if it cranks then its neither of these. if you're not hearing the fuel pump and the exhaust servo isn't moving, i would say the ecu has gone out. but like others have said, try charging the battery first. i've seen weak batteries do all kinds of crazy things.

Please don't let it be my ECU.

I'm going to put my charger on the battery and see if that works.

Man I hope that it will be the battery and not the ECU

Yeah, me too.

If it is, I know what my 1K contract bonus is going toward.

Might piss the wife off but she will have to deal with it.

I am not leaving my bike down.

Just tested the battery and it held 13 volts and did not drop much at all

when I put a load on it. Tried a trickle charge and 5 seconds after it turns on,

it shuts off and says BATT FULL.

I have an 07 and this year at 7200 miles, the bike starting acting up and would start and shut off, etc...etc. I took it in and they fiddled with it for 4 weeks and then finally found that the ecu was bad and the butterfly valve actuator motor was bad as well. Both were replaced and runs perfect. I called Kawasaki America and they talked with the dealership. Kawasaki covered the ecu under warranty since it has to do with emissions but i had to pay for the valve motor. Then since the bike was surging and acting up i noticed the water pump was leaking (blown seal) and had to swap that out on my dime as well. Cross fingers....it runs perfect now.

I would check the fuel pump first then move on from there... Just a guess
:+1:ya hellrazor, do a search on the fuel pump i know i've seen threads before of them going out. might be worth the search to see if they had your symtoms or not.

also do you have a pc3? i've heard of them going bad too. the quick test for that would be to simply disconnect it and try to start the bike without it.

and now stupid question time, did you cycle the kill switch? turning it off then back on? thought i read some where that, that resets something. (and have read of those going bad aswell) think it might reset the tip-over sensor but not sure

lastly, check your kickstand sensor. if that in messed up or unplugged you ain't going anywhere.

goodluck

Ok, 1st. No P/C. 2nd. Yes I did cycle the the kill switch.

Also, I do know for a fact my kickstand sensor is working because the last

time I rode it, it was running and I had it in gear and put the kickstand down

and it killed the bike.

And thank you, but I do have the service manual.

Going to check my tip sensor and research about the fuel pump.

But I'm thinking that with MY LUCK, it will be the damn ECU.

Because, neither the fuel pump nor the exhaust servo motor comes on

when I turn the key on.

Now that I think about it, I had it do this to me one day on vacation.

We were coming back from Orange beach FL and I did a wheelie and came

down to hard and when I stopped to wait on the ferry, the bike wouldn't

start again until I wiggled the connections on the ecu.

Is there anyway to test the ecu guy's?

P.S. Thanks coolgjc

I have an ecu 150 shipped
I may be hitting you up for that if it is my ecu bro.
Let me find out if it is the ecu and we get our $1000 contract bonus and holiday pay next week.
So I would be able to get it from ya.

Thanks.

There might be some ohm load tests you can do check the repair manual
