So i changed my oil right before i put my bike up for the winter last fall. I pulled it out last month and it was running good i thought. For some reason 6th gear is not engaging. When i put it into 6th gear it make a clicking noise like the teeth arent getting a full engaging. Also i can get it to engage sometimes but if i ever let it engine break or take of the throttle ill have to play with it to get it to grab.

its only in 6th gear, all the other gears work fine.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I had the engagement problem when the bike was still new, 5th to 6th was partial, but a bit more boot into the shift and it was fine,I would look at the shift lever on the end of the shaft and make sure the pinch bolt is tight, sometimes a lot of slack in the mechanism throws up the problem.Infact the whole linkage is a bit poor and the accumulation of slack in all the components makes for long shifting.

i changed to Gilles Rearsets and shifting is way more positive, just about any quality rearset will give the same results.

Check your linkages.
