zxfreak Well that looks pretty good to me actually, but still I wouldn't want a frame 3D printed.. Frames have varying degrees of stiffness, in different planes, engineered into them and different ares of the frame are made of different materials to aid this.. I dont think a 3D printer can replicate that, at least not yet. I'm no chassis expert but I know frame rigidity has a lot to do with how a bike handles, wouldn't want to mess with that.

tdh Seems like science fiction. This stuff boggles my mind. I have a hard time comprehending not just how you can 3d print stainless steel parts, but how do you print parts inside of parts with the precision needed for things like a turbo? Crazy!!

SpazOnaZX I don't know about large scale stuff, but home/small scale printers have come waaaayyyyy down in price in the last decade. I'm getting pretty close to buying one myself for rapid prototyping brackets and such. What's really awesome is some of the different materials you can print now.... check this video out (54 seconds if you want to fast forward past the scissor door porn):

Duhastme That is pretty awesome, i hope that it could drive costs own for the production of bikes if a lot of companies caught on to this style of production. Time will tell

3D Printed bike..

I just post stuff like this to start some dialogue as i always like to see/hear other peoples thoughts and ideas.

So uhhh....how long til somebody can start printing Solo Cowls for crying out loud??! I know the printers are probably wicked pricey but man, there's totally bank in printing carbon goodies! Least id think so. And as with anything im sure one day they'll be the cost of a Xbox maybe.

Honorable mention of the Kawi H2 in the article...

Divergent 3D's Dagger super bike shows off 3D printing possibilities
