The Cat and X plate(whatever it is) is in the stock slip on, Which you have already removed. As far as shortening the Akra you could do but I wouldn't personally. If you want loud get a Dumb and Dumber (D&D) slip on.A lot of people have shortened their can. Do a search and find some references to how they did it and any complications they may have come across.

Shortening the can will make it louder for sure.

I have an EVO 2 on my 10R, and my neighbours sure wouldn't say it's too quiet. LOL. Actually, it's not annoyingly loud (like the forementioned D&D) especially when tooling around town. Cops don't seem to even bat an eye. However, let her loose above 8000 rpm or so and it wails like a coyote with its nads caught in a leg trap.

Is it quite quiet of just a little too quiet?

BTW. our little group had an occasion to be parked on the side of a rural road a while back, waiting for a truck and trailer to pick up a couple of damaged bikes. I went to the next town which was about 9 miles down the road. When I returned, everyone commented that they could hear me coming for miles. And that was with the STOCK exhaust pointed away from them for the most part.

Glad I asked! I was about to go take off the Akro and see what there was to drill......lol I did take the cables off the valve under the rear seat. But didnt notice a difference in sound....I may just Cut it down.I do like the look of the shorter cans.I also havent installed the PCIII yet..but dont think thats going to make much of a difference in sound.
Thaks for the help guys......

You guys must be ridin' like pussies. My wife claims she can hear mine halfway across town when I get in it and it has a stock exhaust.
Every cop in town can hear me get on mine.
It seems like everytime I decide to jump on it, ten minutes later the cops are everywhere. So I ride hard for 9 minutes, then cruise like a grandma just before the cops show up on scene.

the Akro will get louder as it gets broken in. I really like how it sounds now after about 4000 miles on it.

I have an 05 10 with an akrapovic sys as well the evo, I noticed that any thing over 4000 rpm she starts to growl...at 8000 she is whining like my girl at the mall. Oh and just so you know green not black.....I had to get some miles on her before the can (carbon fiber) started to make any good sound. I never rode with the stock sys on it. I had them install the evo before I took delivery.
