well, in comparison, gen1 10r has a short wheelbase, loves to wheelie, but is a beast, it's called a widowmaker for a reason. once you've got it upgraded, it's hard to beat with a skilled rider, mine puts down 170 true hp, the bike is a beast. but, at the limits, chassis chatters a good bit. for a comparison, one of the fastest guys at pacific raceways who is a multiple track lap record racer, set it on a race built gsxr1000. on his race built gen 1 zx10r, it was only 2 seconds slower. he even custom built some different rear suspension parts to help with the chassis issues. it's a very capable bike, but the way i like to describe it is this, it's capable, but on the other liter bikes, it's safer/easier to go just as fast or faster. it'll be faster than your r1 once you've upgraded it, but takes more skill to ride it faster than you are on your r1. hope that helps.
we've also built a turbo gen 1 zx10r that did a true 300hp safely for the salt flat drags that was an absolute insane demon, front end wouldnt touch the ground from 1st-6th if you didnt want it to from pure power. it takes a good bit of work but it's doable for about $3-4,000 depending how what you buy and what you can fabricate yourself
