Zx10 crossover

Hi to all, currently I race on a 08R1, heavily modded.. First off I think the 07 08 R1 is one of the best looking bodies I've ever seen...I'm anti Zuki , I work on bikes daily and they're easy to work on but not my cup of tea...I'm interested in 04 05 zx10, will be built or turbo,I've seen a couple boosted bikes, here for sale cheaper than I can buy a bike and a head job..I'm curious to how the 10 will hold up to my R1, I've never lost to a 10, buddy of mines has a 04 10 ,4mil built and its fast as he'll, probably would beat me but I need a street bike so I won't go past 3 .mil but interested in a boosted 10, I've been here trolling, but what are the negatives of the 1st gen 10... Any reason not to get it,I'm keeping my R1 going back stock wheel base so 10 will be drag, street and track,if R1 sells ,I still have an R6R for daily......so any reason not to go 1st gen, not comparing hp from factory cause it'll be built anyways, I am interested in injector sizes and ecu differences...etc

More will probably chime in but the 04's have been know to have stator issues in that they can come apart and toast a motor. I think 05's are updated so that is some thing you will want to do if you are inside the engine anyway. The gen 1 and 2's didn't do that well on the race track (SBK) because of the chassis.

Chassis issues, doesn't like to corner?so 05 would be the better choice, only difference was the stator?

well, in comparison, gen1 10r has a short wheelbase, loves to wheelie, but is a beast, it's called a widowmaker for a reason. once you've got it upgraded, it's hard to beat with a skilled rider, mine puts down 170 true hp, the bike is a beast. but, at the limits, chassis chatters a good bit. for a comparison, one of the fastest guys at pacific raceways who is a multiple track lap record racer, set it on a race built gsxr1000. on his race built gen 1 zx10r, it was only 2 seconds slower. he even custom built some different rear suspension parts to help with the chassis issues. it's a very capable bike, but the way i like to describe it is this, it's capable, but on the other liter bikes, it's safer/easier to go just as fast or faster. it'll be faster than your r1 once you've upgraded it, but takes more skill to ride it faster than you are on your r1. hope that helps.

we've also built a turbo gen 1 zx10r that did a true 300hp safely for the salt flat drags that was an absolute insane demon, front end wouldnt touch the ground from 1st-6th if you didnt want it to from pure power. it takes a good bit of work but it's doable for about $3-4,000 depending how what you buy and what you can fabricate yourself

My R1 is nightmarishly fast..I've seen several turbo 10s,lol I don't like the sound of being done safer on another bike...R1s are expensive to make fast, seems like its always against me.friend of mines is 260 rides a zx10 and runs over most people on the street, built bike of course, he rides it like the world depends on him..so I'm selling one of my yams, deffinetly want a 10, I'll never own a Zuki. Can't afford a BMW...have thought about a 14 .but really like idea of a turbo 10

I hate the banana seat on the 14, it's just not an attractive bike, but fast and comfortable it is.

Everything I have read says that 05 was a carry over year. I think there was a different color offered and the stator was addressed. The torque curve was nuts on the first gen. It wasn't as powerful as the other's as far as peak HP, but the torque comes on early and hard almost like 2 stroke. The gen2's were slightly heavier with a smoother power delivery and couple extra HP. The gen3's had a fair bit more hp but last the low end grunt. They handle corners better than the previous gens.

Sheruns high 8s consistently. But it runs on the street more than track. Destroys clutches. So average cost for 210 is around 6k....seems I can boost for cheaper and build later. I'm not a fabricator but a good mech with plenty of support. It appears ill be selling the 6 or other R1 as well. For a good cause, they saying going green is a good thing.
