wondering about the 04 ZX-10R

new here from Iceland and not sure if this is the right place to ask but im thinking of getting a 04 ZX10R that is for sale and using it to drag race in a stockwheelbase class here in Iceland.

Just wondering what kind of times and trap i could expect out of it and what others have been running on them at stockwheelbase. From what ive seen the 04 make good power. But havent really done much research. Any common problems i should look out for or major weakness(like the R1 clutches )

these are the mods on the zx10r im thinking about
power commander
Thinner headgasket
lowered
aftermarket intake cam(not sure what the specs are)
520 chain and -1 front sprocket
Dry nitrous kit
zero gravity windshield

Btw i have a GSX-R 1000 K7(hope you guys dont hate the gixxer to much lol) but i would like to own and compete on both bikes,, ive never been stuck on just one brand of bikes, just buy what runs and works good. Im using the Gixxer now in a more modified class but its still a stock motor with boltons , a small shot of nitrous and extensions. Runs [email protected] and im 190+lbs unsuited

solid mods for what u want to do, kaw 08 race int., thin hg, degreed cams, tune, will give u a solid powerband and run well do'nt be afraid to deck the head a little, makes a difference. stk. cam sprockets are even slotted from kaw, so all for cheap. got a friend david goes 8.90 on stk. motor 30 shot at 230 lbs., not stk. wb. be a handful, should put out 200-210 with 30, will fly if u can ride it. go for it iceland, u wo'nt be disappointed with the 10, motor good to go for mods planned, just weld the clutch and tighten up clutch pack, these engines take a beating, good racing. you're in the right place. several racers here running fast with same mods, let us know if we can help.

yeah, agree with ya. might consider just doing small shot of nitrous or engine mods alone and proceed from there. these motors respond well to either. power is not going to be a problem.

thanks for the replies guys, yeah i think the zx10r might be a handful at stockwheelbase but should be fun. The Gixxer has 9" swing arm extensions now and runs good and im going to mod it a bit more this winter, and trying to get it into the 8s next season. I tried the GSXR out at stockwheelbase no strap and just with a slipon exhaust, bmc filter it ran [email protected], then i lowered and stretched it and have been [email protected] all motor and [email protected] with a 30 shot on stock motor

you will have to wait to bring the gas in with SWB but if you can get it on the ground with a trap it won't bee quite as bad.
