Straps

Hey y'all, I see lots of mention of strapping down the front end for drag strip use and have looked up strap kits.

Can someone give a newbie and explanation of what these do for the bike?

Have only been down a strip three times. In 1973...

Hoping to get there again soon.

Its a front fork strap. What it does is compress the forks to accomplish 2 things. 1) it lowers the front of the bike. 2) it prevents the bike from wheelying. By taking the travel out of the suspension, it means that weight transfer doesnt put the springs in motion causing the front to bounce up and down. On the launch, the front doesnt rise, the back just squats. On shifts, the front doesnt compress coming off the power.
