strapping a bike down?

Is there a reason why straps bought at the local auto parts store wouldn't work for running on the strip?

I'm thinking of grabbing one of these today for going to the track tonight and hooking it to the holes at the bottom of the forks.

Then I was going to use reusable zip ties to secure the hooks and slack.

Will this work and should it pass tech?

I've seen guys cut the hook off both ends and slide one end between the caliper and caliper mount but I'd rather use the appropriate brackets

I seen it done but honestly rather use the ones I bought with the caliper brackets easy install and have run the same one for years no problems no mess....simple
