Popping noise from clutch

I noticed a loud thud or pop when I released the clutch yesterday, but only on a good launch and at the last 20% of lever travel. My 60's aren't spectacular they were only 1.54, 1.55,1.56, but I went 1.60 twice and didn't hear a thing. The bike is a '09 and the basket has been welded. Has anyone heard anything like this?

Keep us updated. I just started racing my 09' and am curious to hear what u find out. Also who welded ur basket? R u talking about the aluminum rivets? I've heard those are a trouble spots when racing.

rivets are steel, yeah, better pull that basket, they can break even welded.

I haven't welded the rivets, I just welded the inner basket together to disable the slipper function. I did this myself not to difficult, but I am a mechanic for a living.

I got the clutches out and they were really dry! Only the bottom plates showed signs of oil. The basket looked ok and the welds on inner hub are still in good condition. I'm thinking they were getting grabby and thats the noise I heard, at least I sure hope its that simple. The stack height is low too 52.73mm and spec is 53.5
