just a quick ? about race gas?

What's up guys..I am trying to squeeze every little bit of hp out of the 10. I'm trying to outrun my buddies honda. I'm fixing to get a power commander. I have race baffles with a gutted cat. After I get the power commander I'm going to pull the secondary flies put a race air filter. I also have a tre...my ? is will race gas get me any more power. A full exhaust and tune isn't in my budget right now. So it will be race gas with a loaded map...also what type of fuel is best for my circumstances

No race gas you can try running 89. Your just pissing your money away if your bike doesn't need it

ive had good look with useing MR9 & MRX01, both are oxygenated and make good power on all motor applications.

Many discussions in the past about race fuel and from all the reading on this site and reviews it doesn't help much unless the bike is tuned for a particular fuel.....best bet is run 87.

bloo

PS...you have 2 duplicate threads......will try to merge them into one now.

Thanks blue.. All I have for internet is my blackberry and the search function doesn't work right...it also duplicates a lot of posts, I try to delete them when I realize it but it wouldn't let me delete the whole thread.

"Race gas" is not one single thing. There are many customized fuels available.

On an otherwise standard bike, you could try using a fuel that is intended for maximizing power on a production engine. Talk to your local race fuel distributor.

And having said that ... I run my race bike on plain ordinary Shell V-power.

Helibars, MRA screen, Ohlins damper, reversed shift pattern, sorted suspension, braided lines, Michelin Pilot Power, all else stock 'coz it's fast enough!

mr9

vp mr9, you WILL pickup power, developed for todays stock sportbikes. 87 octane, oxygenated, extremely fast burn for max cyl. pressure, will produce results. seen 5-7 hp on dyno with no mapping. but dyno confirms this also.

did you tell him about the side effects though like gunk....will have to do a search but don't believe it's like through this fuel in and have fun....there is work involved to make sure your bike goes back to normal after runs.

A good many racing fuels have a very short shelf life after the container (with 20 litres in it) is opened, and a good many of them are not good to stay in contact with the various plastic or rubber parts in fuel systems in the long term ... and some of them have some rather scary words on the MSDS, too.

too much aggravation and cost in MY situation ...
