help me go 10's on buddys 600

Hey guy i have a buddy that has a 2003 honda 600rr, lower, strapped, full yosh pipe and a power commander. He has been trying to go 10's for awhile. so i made a bet with him that i could take it to the track for 1 day and get it in the 10's for him. his bike mph 123 in the 1/4 so i think it will get there, just not sure what he is doing wrong that i need to correct, I ran the 10 stock wheelbase for about a year and went 9.93 so i think i can get his 6 in the 10's. im thinking he isnt getting out of the clutch fast enough, his 60' are good being a 1.78 but his 330' is only a 4.59, so i think this is where his problem is. I think if i can get his 330 in the 4.4 range i will be able to go 10's right now his best pass is a 11.09 and 123. It has been awhile since i have ran a stock wheelbase bike so its going to take a few passes to get the hang of it again but does anyone have any tips on what to expect out of a 600 also i am about 10 pound heavier so im expecting to go about 121 mph. can a 600 go 10's at 120

Do you have any slips or all the split times and MPH from one of his slips?

What does your buddy weigh?

Tires and Pressure?

Launch RPM?

What RPM is he shifting at?

I am just trying to get an idea of the full run because with a 4.59 330', it looks like the run falls off in a hurry to only run low 11s.

For comparison here is a run from Bike Bash. My clutch was slipping badly which is why the numbers were so poor. My 330 was crap but, I still just slipped into the 10s. There was also about a 10MPH headwind.

60' 1.819
330' 4.764
1/8 7.167 103.62
1000' 92.212
1/4 10.983 122.7

I launch at 8K RPM, WOT immediately, then ride the clutch out
Shift at an indicated 15,500 (about 1,000 short of redline)
Run 42 PSI on my pilots and make sure to get them nice and warm during the burnout
My current weight suited is right around 205 Lbs

1000' 9.24

That run is so close to 10s that it shouldn't be a problem. I would look into a couple of things though.

1. I do not know what max tire pressure is on the shinko but, take up the pressures to help MPH and make sure to do a nice burnout to keep from spinning

2. Take a look at a dyno sheet for that bike with comparable mods to get an idea of where the power falls off to make sure that you are not shifting at too high an RPM. Will take a few runs but, keeping the bike in the peak power is critical and will pay huge dividends in MPH and lowered ET.

he is -1 +2. This is his absolute best run he is normally running 11.15s or so I think i will be able to get it in the 10s for him with a few passes, Just for the fact that i have more experience than him and have raced all different kinds of bikes, Oh he is also scared to wheelie so if the front comes up on him more than a couple of inches he backs out of it, I told him these would probably be his best runs if he can hover the front a few inches and not have to let out, just to power though them, It is a lowered and strapped 600 so if it doesnt come up to high it should come back down on its own.

How much does he weigh? Is the bike tuned? What rpms is he leaving at? How is his suspension setup? Does he keep a log book? If not there is one that he can use on here that I helped Vince10r improve.

I would also say bump that rear tire pressure up. The 003's are a good tire to hook up but he doesn't really need it on a swb 600, they're actually kind of heavy. His 60' actually seems decent for swb 600. From what you posted it doesn't seem to be back halfing real well. Just try to watch your shiftpoints I guess.

He is my buddy, But he over exaggerates alot, like when he pulls a 6 inch wheelie it is 12 oclock to him. so he also thinks he needs a 003 and 30 psi in his tires. im going to race it saterday for him and see what i can do
