First time at the drags

Took my 08 zx10r to the drags last weekend. Kind of disappointed, but up here at this altitude, not surprising.
First off, if you drag race, you know DA. The DA was 8600ft, yes, 8600ft! Track is at 5390ft to begin with.

First pass ever, went 11.6 @ 130, 2.2 60'. Got the boot because I didn't have leather pants to go above 120mph. I made the mistake of sitting on it like a dirt bike and was too far forward. Next time, I will sit a little farther back and lean forward more. I know the bike has more in it and I really need to practice. I will lower it and have ordered -1/+2 gearing from stock. I am no stranger to the drags with my cars, my Buick GN's best is 11.78 @ 118 and my Cadillac CTSV has a best of 10.86 @ 131 in a DA of 8200ft. Can't have my sedan faster than my bike, lol.
It was a kick in the pants though!

Thats some rough, really rough, DA lol.

Get some straps and that should help keep the front wheel down a little bit too. Just takes a lot of seat time to get a swb liter bike going fast.

Yes, the DA is horrible!
I weigh 185 and was leaving at about 2k rpms.
One guy there, who runs 9s with his Busa, said just to leave as if I was very aggressive from a stop light. I will get some leathers, strap it down and hope for a 6000 ft DA, lol
Do you guys adjust your tire pressure, or just race right off the street? I was told to leave it alone because of the top end.
Thanks

Tire pressure you want to have as high as you can without fighting traction issues. If your leaving at 2k you'll be fine with whatever you ride with on the street. The lower the ire pressure you start to sacrifice mph. I would also suggest leaving a little bit higher than that.

Since your swb you want have to worry about tire pressure. I suggest lowering the rear some and strapin frontend down next outing both will help ton and bump rpms up to 5k, 2k is way to low bike will bog bad off line.

Should be able to get it into the mid 10's stock as a rock. I did a 10.49 at 137mph last outing with no modifications at all. I found that about 3k was an ok starting rpm with stock gearing. Any higher it just wanted to wheelie...

Nice man! Welcome to the bug club! haha the strip is definitely addicting! If you don't have one yet, get a strap. It's the cheapest and easiest way to go quicker at the track. That and seat time your times will drop a lot! Best of luck man!
