First passes of 2010

Not only are these my first passes of 2010, but they're also my first passes with the stretch/gearing/Shinko as well.

Overview:
2008 ZX-10
Level-One Slipon
PC5 w/generic Dynojet Map
BMC Race Air Filter
Removed Secondary Flies
-1, +7 gearing
6" Stretch
290lb (in gym shorts) rider

Alright, heres a breakdown of the day.

Pass 1 had 14psi in the tire and spun pretty bad so I dropped it to 12.5psi. Every run after that was with 12.5psi.

Pass 2, left at 4000rpm:
1.827 60'
4.596 330'
6.786 @ 112.17mph

Pass 3, left at 4200rpm, wheelied:
1.864 60'
4.608 330'
6.798 @ 112.66mph

I noticed how my 60' on the 3rd run was 4 hundredths slower, but the 330' and 1/8th were only 1 hundredth slower - meaning I had a slower launch but got WOT faster....so I tried to keep her WOT sooner.

Pass 4, left at 4500rpm, tried a new method with the clutch...didn't work:
1.901 60'
4.648 330'
6.851 @ 111.17mph

Pass 5, bad pass...tried to slip the clutch to much. Another 6.85.

Pass 6, left at 5000rpm, floated the front tire all through first, it actually came up a bit on the upshift to 2nd:
1.845 60'
4.561 330'
6.753 @ 112.04mph

Went and compared slips again. Pass 6 had a slower 60' than pass 2, but a better ET. 60' was 2 hundredths slower, but ET was 2 hundredths better. 330' was also better - that told me I'm finally starting to get WOT sooner and sooner...keep at it!

Pass 7, left at 6000rpm:
1.769 60'
4.480 330'
6.669 @ 112.54mph

I was THRILLED when I got this slip! All I wanted was 6s today and here I am running mid 6s first time out. I was racing a stretched 4wheeler with a bike motor - can't remember if it was a 600 or 750 - either way, the fucker was FAST! He ran a 6.59 @ 110 but I beat him off the tree. Gap at the line was 0.050!! We were side by side the entire track, GREAT race! I cut a .012 reaction, which made the difference.

Pass 8, left at 6000rpm, went slightly out of the groove, slight head shake:
1.813 60'
4.551 330'
6.738 @ 112.61mph

Nothing special about that pass, but now I'm running 70s consistently...

Pass 9, left at 6000rpm, hit rev limiter in 3rd:
1.781 60'
4.480 330'
6.695 @ 110.88

Same 330' as pass 7, but with a slower 60'...still working on getting WFO quick...

Pass 10, left at 6200rpm:
1.72 60'
4.421 330'
6.586 @ 113.34mph

This pass just FELT incredibly smooth. From the launch, running up through the gears, everything. I could feel it was a great pass. I'm still very much so getting used to being able to go WOT so fast and not slipping the clutch so much...its a VERY awkward feeling considering I had 200+ passes at SWB.

I'm passing the traps around 12,300rpm in 4th gear. I HAVE to get a SpeedoHealer before making 1/4 mile passes, otherwise I will hit the 186mph limiter before I cross the line. I was doing an indicated 159mph when crossing through the traps.

Good first passes..The only limit to your top end is gonna be your gearing no matter what the speedo reads...and I hate the fact that people keep posting up their first runs when there is still snow on the ground here in IL

What I meant is the bike will think its doing 186mph before it crosses the 1/4 mile traps and therefor kick in the speed limiter, even though its only doing 150ish.

I've got a speedo healer on the way though, ordered one this morning.

My gearing final drive is very similar to -2, +3 gearing. I won't run a 15tooth front on my bike, ever. It was 40 degrees out and the track wouldn't hold anything more than 6200 rpm on the launch.

Although a SpeedoHealer is always a good idea there is no speed limiter, the speedo stock will show 186 and then 189 before the bike stops accelerating. Your gearing and rev limit will be the only factors, the ECU will not limit your speed. Sorry if I'm coming off as a dick, not trying to be, just trying to be helpfull.

Let that freaking clutch go, playboy !!! Leave higher on it. I tell you what go to youtube and search for rickey gadson and you will see how high he leaves at in the R's on his 08 ZX-10R. If you are a heavier guy then you need more gearing and need to leave higher up in the RPM's. And last but not least take that freaking Shinko Off because they are not consistent in different temps, tracks and atmoshpere. Get you either a DragTec tire or Michelin PowerOne and you want have to be playing with the tire pressures as frequently on the other two mentioned tires.

The track wouldn't hold any higher in the revs because it was 40 degrees out...and its not the Shinko that was the problem, it was the track. Car slick bar bikes were spinning as well.

I don't have the horsepower or expertise to justify a DragTec or P1 at the moment, maybe down the road.
