Firs time at the strip.

I had my first run at the drag strip, last night, and what a blast! It was a lot of fun, and i got to meet many of other bikers and learned a lot. Unfortunately we didn't get to the strip until an hour before close, due to a a buddies bike breaking down. worse... I did terrible. my best time of the night was a 12.063. so I've got a lot of work to do!

hears the individual times of the two runs i got in;

1.)
RT... .401
60'... 2.842
330'... 6.186
1/8... 8.601
mph... 104.53
1000... 10.619
1/4... 12.320
mph... 131. 24

2.)
RT... .798
60'... 2.384
330... 5.689
1/8... 8.169
mph... 101.53
1000... 10.273
1/4... 12.063
mph... 122.86

So clearly I didn't do as well as I hoped I would. Im going back next Wednesday and hopefully I can get into the high 10s is the goal. any advice would be great! thanks guys!

Ya just practice, you need to work on your launch & get the 60ft times down to 1.6-1.7 or near that. The boys were telling me 1 tenth on that end is 2 tenths at the finish. Also, i was trying to get into 2nd to fast...really ride the clutch to keep the front down & only shift into 2nd at the 60ft mark. Most of all have fun! Good luck. I've only gone 2 or 3 times with my 10R & ran a 10.20 @141, good for me but a lot of guys here go a lot faster!!!

If its got tits or tires it'll give u problems

well, I went back tonight, I improved a bit, but still got some work to do!

here is my best run;

R/T... .594
60'... 2.058
330... 5.449
1/8... 7.957
mph... 102.14
1000... 10.062
1/4... 11.761
mph... 130.09

i feel as tho its my launch and 60' time that is holding me down, anyone have any advice on proper launching?

thanks!
Jon

Just more practice....rev the bike up to 8k (or whatever your comfortable with) before the lights come down & let the clutch out slow & stay on the gay....remember you've gotta keep the front on the ground.

If its got tits or tires it'll give u problems
