craptastic night at the track.

Had a shitty night at the track. Just could not get my head in it and made several mistakes on all three runs I got to do. Bike was doing great but I was not focused at all. My times were 11.4, 11.2 and 11.3 with various mph. First run didn't hit WOT until second and hit the rev limiter twice. Then some Jackass sprayed oil all the way down the track from the start line to the far exit so the track was down for 2.5 hours. Got my second run in and didn't launch worth a damn. Ran an 11.2 on that one. Then on the way back to staging another person sprayed oil on the track and it got shut down again. Then they tried redoing the staging lane assignments because it was soo backed up which turned into a cluster f**k. Then right before I was next to head to the line they decided to clean the track again because they half assed it the first 2 times. I had to leave at 1030 because I had to go to work. It was 1040 before I got to the line and was so pissed by this point I couldn't focus at all and left the line like I was leaving a stop sign. But I turned it into an 11.3 @ 137mph. I just wish I had performed better because the bike was great. It's one of those things that piss me off not because I could have been faster but that I wasn't faster because I didnt do as well as i know I could have.

They need to get their priorities straight when it comes to tech inspections. They are all over us about the pull cord kill switch even though our bikes have the factory tilt kill sensors. But there was a guy on a ratty sportster dripping oil in the staging lanes really bad. Every time we stopped even for a second he had a 3in wide puddle under his bike. My buddy was beside him in the staging lane and told him. The guy replied "yeah I know it only does that when its sitting not when its running down the track". WTF? Then the guy rolled out to the line and spun his tire down at least 1/2 the track. There's no way they would have missed that in tech if they looked under the bike. I told the guy sending everyone to the line and he said he'd check next time he comes up. I don't know if he ever checked though.

I'll try to post the embarrassing videos later. I did all the mistakes I know not to do and know it was all my fault. I think I made every mistake that can be made to screw up a run aside from looping the bike or slamming the wall.

As long as "# of times kickstand down = # of times kickstand up" it's a good night.... the rest is just gravy.

Sucks to hear about your night... I've had a couple of those at SIR. It's amazing for a facility of that size and caliber that they just can't put on a good test n' tune. I don't think I've ever had a better night there than I've had a Fayetteville Raceway in NC... and that place is a hell hole. But you got some seat time at least... it all adds up if you keep at it.

(PS I once smacked the inside of my pelvis/hip on a botched launch bad enough to dent the tank on my SV1k. Strategically positioned between that was a nice cushion of nut sack. At least you weren't in the tower lane at SIR, at a dead stop in the 60' box, almost falling over, trying not to puke/pass out while everyone watched. That's officially worse than going slow, truuuust me.)

Attack life... it's going to kill you anyway.

Here's the first vid. Red light. Sitting up way to high/horrible positioning way to slow to full throttle using the clutch to shift and hitting the rev limiter are just the start of the issues.
