Question. (Experienced Track guys especially)

First post, been lurking, now posting.. Hello to all!

Been riding for about 3 years. Im a canyon lover. Anyway, my question is... I have an '06 ZX-10, the rearsets seem HIGH to me compared to some other bikes I have owned/ridden. I have a 190/50 rear tire on it. When I'm leaned over, my toes and pegs scrape all day, however I cant seem to get the knee to drop. I'm asking not because I'm dying for it to touchdown, but becaues I was always under the impression that the knee should touch BEFORE the toes, which leads me to believe there is a problem with my form. If there is a problem, I want to correct it. I rotate my hips and ass AROUND the tank so that say one ass cheek is off the seat, try to kiss my mirror and just let the knee hang with the ball off my foot on the peg, toes biased towards the inside of the bike. Any ideas what could be screwin up my form? I'm about 5'9", 175 lbs.. not fat and short, or tall and skinny. Thanks!!

Try and have someone take some pics of you comin thru a corner. It really helped me realize my body position was not nearly where I thought it was. I have the same bike and seldom touch the pegs down with my knee down.

^ I agree. First time out on the track I was the same. You feel like you have a cheek of the seat but nowhere near it. I found (for me) I needed too feel like my knee joint was against the side of the seat almost to the point I could barly reach the peg and brake. I'm about 5'812" by the way

Bill - GI Pro, Hindle slip on, Smoked screen, ZX14 brakes.... Well, you feel lucky, punk? You shouldn't, this is a 10R

I drag my toes all the time and I race every other weekend.. kind of a bad and expensive habit.. I have votex rearsets and they are set quite a bit higher than stock. are you running stock rearsets???

VP fuel and me.. ..adds 5 hp..

It you are dragging your toes, U are not setting you feet correctly before the turn. As far as getting the knee down
U will need to get off the bike. I know you think you are
getting off, But u are not.

The toes of your boots should be on the pegs. If you have the arch of your boot on the pegs, this will cause your toes to stick down further. And drag easier. Like others have said, I always feel like I have moved over to the side much more than reality. PLUS, you really have to extend your knee sideways to get that "curb feeler" on the ground. The stock rearsets are not higher than normal but that is not what is keeping your knees from touching. With higher after market rearsets, and your form is correct, it is easier to get your knee down since it forces you to have more angle in your knee.

Don't confuse me with facts, my mind is already made up.

I use my toes all the time when really pushing it....
go to a track day or a school.
good form starts with foot position imagin your stainding on the pegslike a catcher does.
Also when going through a turn look through it put your head over your right or left hand depending on the turn.
throw a 190 55 on it and start doing sometrack days you won't regret it.
