Quite the step up from...

...a 95 Yamaha Seca II. Wow! From an outdated air-cooled 600cc to a technological masterpiece 1000cc. I'm still trying to get used to the riding position, but its not bad. Just wanted to say hi, and also I am curious as to what is involved with the 600 mile service. I like doin my own work if I can. So if all it is, is an oil change, tighten the chain, and inspect this and that then I will do that rather than take it to a stealership. Anyway, just wanted to say hi.

Oh yeah, this bike deserves respect. I know that the second I think I can control it, it will show me otherwise. Fear will keep me in-line.

Welcome, Brandon. And don't give the dealership anymore of your money. The 600 mile or "break-in service" is just a way for them to screw you out of more of your money. Like you said; change the oil, check the important bolts, and adjust the chain, levers, cables, etc. All simple stuff that anyone with a little bit of mechanical ability can do.
