Newbie Intro

Hey All, The names Mark from England but live in Australia. Just got myself a 2011 ZX10r. I'm coming off a Ninja 650 so going to be a huge change but cant wait!!!

It's the Black and Platinum model with ABS, also has an Annitori QS, Taylor Made exhaust and a PCV.

I do need to get some new tyres but not sure the best ones to get; so any advice would be awesome. I do mainly road riding but will take it on the track once or twice. I've had Michelin Pilot 4s on my 650 and loved them but not sure if these would suit the zx10r or if i need to got for more or a racing tyre. What do you guys run?

Anyway, looking forward to getting to grips with the bike (no pun intended) and chatting with you all

I like the Metzler M7RR, but Roadtecs or PR4's should be ok for mainly road use with improved mileage, not so good on track though

, CUZ.

I'm running Pirelli Diablo Rosso II's, and they have been phenomenal on the wet & dry street. I've run a track day in the sun, and as a Novice class track rider, I could only barely push their limits throttling out of high torque exits.

Embracing the silence amid a life & land full of static...

Hey mate, In in Manly NSW, Been here for nearly 11 years (I'm 34 now) still sound English, burn English and look English haha. Each year I forget that my skin can;t handle it and burn the crap out of myself haha

For my first summer I actually worked on a building site too, I have never been so hot in my whole life!!!

Can't wait to get the ZX10R on the road :)

MARK <> It was my first track day ever, and 'twas undeniably, incontestably, & unequivocally the most fun I've had in as long as I can remember. An absolute blast! I've already got a new job to generate the monies necessary; I've dieted 5kg off my gut to get back into fighting shape for my next trackday; and I'm resolutely committed to becoming the best version of a track day rider I can be.

That tire photo was after the first 20 minute warm-up/orientation session. I got exponentially better as the day wore on. I was simply too exhausted to keep my body position in check once I actually stopped wondering what turn came next. By that point, at almost 140kg in leathers, my legs just couldn't drive forward up off the pegs to get under the inside of the bike, and I was stuck in the seat for the entirety of my day. My goal is to lose 20kg; I've already knocked 5kg off that... 15 kilos to go.
